Hi,
I got this watch http://ufantazone.com/catalog/images/02 ... a02950.jpg from the mentioned site and every time I shake the case in a circular movement to charge the automatic movement the seconds hand stops for a little while and then restarts. Otherwise, the watch goes 1 second ahead every hour or so :(. I don't know what is the movement this watch has but I would like some advices so I will stay away from this kind of manufacturers. The good news is the fact that although it costs only $54 + s&h, the site screw up my order and sent it without charging my paypal account :).
Is this defect with the second hand and the fact that the watch doesn't keep the time and isolated problem or this is how all the fifty dollars watches behave. I want to buy pretty soon a $300 Bentley from trusty times. Will I have the same problems? I don't expect the watch to keep the time for weeks but going ahead one second every hour is an enormous imprecision.
Thanks in advance for any advices/answers.
Dan

Let me get this straight. You paid around $50.00 for a watch with an chinese movement that loses 24 seconds a day? ...and on top of that they did not even charge you for it?...sounds like you made out like a bandit. Yes Trusty will be a lot different, he will charge you for the watch......Welcome to the D.S. :D

Will it be a lot different? Will it keep the time is actually the no.1 question, because I can see its level of details and general quality is much better?
And what is D.S. please?
Thanks!

Hi again danix...I purchased my very first rep from Andrew (TrustyTime) and that watch is still running well and keeping good time. Many good dealers here so take your time and do lots of reading, that way you can make up your own mind about which watch you really want to buy...D.S. means Darkside :D

What the hell are you guys talking about? I fuxxed with you doing what??????
BTW the watch from ufanta got water inside because I thought I could swim with it and now is not working at all :( What a piece of crap.
IS A GOOD REPLICA WATERPROOF?? If I buy a supeocean from Ruby may I at least shower or swim with it without damaging it?
And again I want to resolve the "fuxx" problem so explain me what did I do wrong by asking these questions. Jeez u guys are so tense!? But please let me know about the waterproof deal before starting the accusations.
Thanks in advance!

danix13: no worries heck I don't even know what fuxx means? :D

Ruby is a top notch dealer and you won't go wrong with her. You will see a big difference in quality but just make sure your watch is water tested and sealed properly first and that will mean testing after you get it...good luck with your purchase.

after you've been here a while you'll see all our little quirks and personality differences..it's what makes it fun, so here's an official welcome to the forum. :D

Yes, always get your watch tested before swimming or even showering with it - that's my rule, regardless of whether it is gen or rep.

Actually it's best not to shower with a watch, the heat can have a detrimental effect on the seals.

Strange, I seem to have wondered about this before. Who would want to shower with a watch on? Generally, I remove all my clothes and even my hairpiece. I guess if you are not at home and in some kind of public place (like one of those gym/gay establishments) you may be concerned about theft, but then you may as well take your wallet and expensive shoes in the shower with you :?

The general rule for reps when it comes to waterproofing is as follows: If the dealer says it is waterproof to 50 meters, that's how far away from the water you should keep it. Ok enough Rep Humor. You should have them checked first. I'll give you a good example. When I received my GMT II C, it came with the caseback loose. Good thing I checked it. Excellent chinese QC. NOT!

I think what everyone is trying to say mate is that your watch seems to be pretty damn good seeing as you are only gaining 1 second per hour and as you only paid 54 dollars for it. I think the Swiss COSC standard is around +/-6secs a day so you gaining 24secs per day is ok. Hell Im not too fussed if my watch is out by 5 mins per day as I tend to move from one to another anyhow and if I am late 5 mins for work, screw 'em!! [smilie=angel12.gif]

Silix claims to test some of his at the same pressure as per 100m for some watches (The Oris CC  ) and I did testmy Oris CC it in the shower  the other day, no leaks, no condensation.

First off, was I the only one that noticed that his SFSO actually has an Avenger case? Actually, I've seen these on the street.

As far as waterproofing goes, today's high quality reps (Non-chrono) are pretty water resilient. I have 3 Planet Oceans, and a SFSO that I swim with regularly, and have never had a problem. Just make sure that the caseback has been properly tightened, as they almost always arrive half tight.
