I was just wondering what Ale was using as his criteria for calling some PAMs super reps and some not in his review? I am sorry if I offended anyone! I wasn't sure if it was just purely subjective

Super Reps
In a way, the term Super Rep is objective (when members of tenure here use the term, I take notice!)...more often than not, it is a watch that has superior build quality, high quality movement (no 21j Super Reps), and is nearly IDENTICAL to it's gen counterpart. These Super Reps are usually significantly more expensive than any other replicas of their gen counterpart. They are exceptionally fine timepieces and highly collectable..:cheers:

There are no DEFINITIONS for these concepts. The evaluation of a replica in completely subjective, and some flaws tolerated by you can be not tolerated for other owners and vice versa.
This is a "system" trying to clasify the quality of a replica.
Anyway in PAM GUIDE Section 5.2.1, I'm explaining some criteria to get the evaluations, but I repeat that is very subjective.
SUPER REPS – reps very close to the gen in materials, external look (even in side by side comparison), and reliable
FIRST CLASS REPS- reps very close to the gen and reliable, but with some difference in materials, functions… or little differences in external look or colours only remarkable in side by side comparisons.
BAD-LOW GRADE REPS- reps with evident differences with the gen, different materials, functions, colours, very different movement with a display caseback. In general all replicas which have not any good version and are not at all recommendable to buy them.
I will consider the rest of non classified replicas as GOOD OR MEDIUM GRADE REPS
As you can see this "Evaluation system" is not very strict and there is not a fix rule and less an exact DEFINITION.
Please TAKE the EVALUATIONS as a SIMPLE GUIDE to know something about the quality of a replica.

I know I took a risk with these evaluations, and sorry for the possible confusions, but I think, sincerelly, that it is better these Evaluations than nothing when you are choosing a replica.

Let me clarify my remarks... I wasn't talking exclusively about Pams.. while I like the brand and own several nice quality reps, I know that I am not fanatical about them... I have seen, as I am sure others who are viewing this, that the term Super Rep is not just used in reference to Panerai..
For me there are very few "Super-reps" as to me these are watches that are so close to gen that a gen would need to be present to spot any differences. As such I consider very few watches to be super reps

Franken vs. Super Rep
A "Franken" watch is a step beyond Super Rep ... Super Reps come out of the factories as is .. they are excellent subjects for a Franken if you wish to spend the money ..

I was thinking that PAM super reps are those that are very difficult to tell from gen OTB side by side.
I would say these are a few the solid case back PAMs (243, 390, 029, 187...) and the open case backs that can be modded to be difficult to tell in side by side (111, 127...)
I have a few of the above watches (including the 111 and 127 modded by Marlin) and even when you guys point out the differences I still cant see them...they are just so darn good!
