Not that rare or a prototype (if it was it would not have papers, a box or a caseback sticker) it's just that the dial is not usually on a customer watch. Wether the dial has been swapped in or it was ordered that way (back then Rolex would do pretty much as you asked) I'm not sure. Certainly a different piece tho.

The auctioneer told it was never been sold with this dial. And there are only a few out there. But everything is possible ofcourse... Its still a remarkble piece. But 20 to 35 K in euro's. I dont no....[emoji15]

Saw this watch on VRF, is either it didn't sell or someone trying to flip it. Is also strange the hands are red.

It is the dial Rolex used when sending the Daytona for COSC certification. not a prototype. But I assume it is rare, as many of them probably aren't in circulation

It looks very similar to the dial that just came on my new A7750 movement. Most certainly was never on a gen watch.

It just looks weird, even if I were buying this from an AD I would still feel funny about it's authenticity...

It was my Daytona for sale at Catawiki , I bought it from a former Rolex engineer.
Loved the minimalistic design.
