Yeah - this is very cool, but I wish they would give us a little heads up on what models we can expect to see!

Er, Chinese New Year you don't want to look forward to, celebration lasts 2 weeks, no Pms returned from dealers, factories shut down, forums are dead.
Then hangovers must be dealt with, dealers have huge PM backog, factories get going again, BIG disruption for about 3 weeks total.

Chinese New Year starts on 18 Feb.

In China, this is the main holiday for the year and most people travel back home to their families, i.e. long distance travel. Therefore most people are out for at least 1 week.

Would suggest buying after the New Year frenzy if you don't want your watch lost / mixed up / sloppyly selected during this mad season.

In addition to the 252 and 186, supposedly the Firenze boutique watches (blue dials and cool casebacks 228, 229, etc. ?) will be forthcoming around that time. But unfortunately, all improvements appear to be aesthetic. The days of original movement PAM reps are slowly coming to an end.

Does anyone know which models will be coming out?
Thanks!

Yes, the speculation begins. You can't blame them for keeping 'mum' - as some may be popular models for which dealers have exisitng lesser quality stock....

Sorry for not posting about that blog entry here earlier. :)

Angus was kind enough to do an interview with me for my site. I'd love to interview some of the other dealers as well as I think it helps us all get to know them better...

Thanks Richard.
Interview with Eddie Lee would be a good idea (if you could get him to open up, that is), since his view on future of watch rep industry in general could present a start of an interesting debate here.

Angus' and Eddie's views are completely opposed...one of the reasons I'm taking a 'wait and see' approach when it comes to all things reps 8)

cheers and Merry Xmas,
babola

I think that interviews like that are a great way to get to know our dealers.

It would be good to submit a set of fairly standard questions to each of them, so that we could see what each of their opinions are on the same matters.

Discussion with each dealer about 'super Pams' would make interesting reading.

Great.......a third mortgage

My wife is going to be SO happy!

Actually, I plan to watch from the sidelines for a bit. It is still fresh in my mind how everyone went bananas about that IWC portuguese a few months ago. Someone at RWG created a group buy, and (eventually, and with a few isolated "issues") got the watches at higher prices than at what is offered today. And to top it off, as people owned them for a while, it turned out that the watch is not particularly "reliable" due to the movement's modifications.

How much did the first few pay for "chronozilla"? Around $600... How about the first batch of 087 buyers? They paid premium for a watch with totally crooked markers! And they did so with a smile ... ah the price of being first at posting pics of your prized possession.

High quality new models are welcome, but I have been at this long enough to have learned a few lessons along the way.

Happy collecting, and prosper new year to all!
