Super cheap PAM111?!

Hi and welcome to the rwi. If You just want a beater that tell´s the time and is handwound I think this could be a good watch to try out. It is so much cheaper because from near it doesn´t look exactly like the gen. The materials used will be a little weaker and the lume probably does not last very long, the strap will not be very high quality, but that doesn´t matter in this case You can always get another strap. It will not have that "superfeeling" but I think this could be a nice watch for using every day with not too much care about scratching it etc. From the looks of it I would even say this could hold a real long time like 10 years or more.

I have one cheap PAM in this price range and it is very comfortable on a rubber strap. Often use it for working on the car and in the garden and as it is not very flashy People just think it is a big old watch, which is good.

Many cheap watches are really "bad" except when they are quartz. But I think this is a good one. It looks nice and reliable, just don´t go into a watchhop with it. Maybe You only want to get the superclone in a few Years after You have this.
Good luck.

Thank You Daywatch!

You got me thinking. Why would I spend money on something I know is not good beforehand?!

Would I be better off with a Toro Beginner or should I just skip that and go with the Noob V3?

Its hard to figure it out which ones are good with so many different versions!!

You know this place and you will know your rep, with all flaws, mate. I once thought of things like you do know, but after years spent in the rep game and collecting lots of things and selling them later on, I found out my truth:

IF YOU CAN BUY A BETTER VERSION/SERIES/MODEL, DO IT! THE FLAWS ON THE INFERIOR VERSION WILL BUG YOU TO DEATH, YOU WILL KEEP LOOKING AT THEM AND THINKING THAT OTHER PEOPLE WILL NOTICE THEM AS WELL (THEY DON'T, BUT THAT DOES NOT HELP...). EVENTUALLY YOU WILL SELL YOUR PIECE AND BUY THE BETTER VERSION.

the only reason to buy a rep like this (for me), if you do not know if you will like the watch or if it will fit your wrist etc..., and you want to try it. Then flip it and buy a better one if you liked or do not buy it again if you did not.

Noob V3 is definitely the best one but if you want to save some money, Toro beginners version is awesome watch for the money you are paying. I had one before and I was really satisfied with it. It has small flaws but nothing I can't live with. :)

Hi Lito, my thoughts: the superclone is a 47mm wonderful watch with no date and no seconds at 9 hand. For myself the seconds at 9 turning slowly is something beautiful only PAM´s have and I would miss it. You are on limited funds and it´s Your very first so if U spend the $388 + shipping You´re about $430 down with a big watch, no extra strap yet and no funds to buy another one for some time. I would not advise it. That´s why I recommended the other, no much harm done. Maybe You want a Breitling after all or a Submersible PAM with seconds hand or something else. As You mentioned Toro I would look in the submersibles 47mm and take the Arctos on a budget and look for another brand in the hot section (Breitling Abyss Noob 42mm) or a Sinn U2 with the Asian 2813. I would get 1 cheap +-130 with 300 left for a super or buy 2x200 watches right from the start. After having finished school and got a job I would buy something nice from my 2nd or 3rd salary. Wish You good choices.

That's very intersting. Do you think that your opinion could be applied to rep watches considering the fact that rep costs more than 20 times less than gen?
I'm pretty sure that the word "cheap" doesn't always mean "bad" and "expensive" is not always a sign of good quality.

Yep! Looks like I have a lot to read :)

I'll definitely won't be buying that cheap watch, I'm not OCD but once I know too many flaws are there I wont be happy!

Thanks for the advice.

I'm not super crazy about the 111 but it seems is the way to go to start on panerai. :)

Thank you Daywatch! I'll do more research to do better buys. Glad I didn't buy that particular one lol

Thats also true :) there are not absolutes, however it is true that if you cheap out any buy, quality is usually compromised!
