suggestion on 1st panerai..

have been looking around and try to drag my friend into the great world of reps (what a good friend LOL) he ask me what is good for b


I picked pam 390 as option for hand winding. as it doesnt have date ( i like it as i dont wear them everyday, adjusting time is more than enough work, :whistling: what a lazy one) and most importantly , it is one of the best out of box.

hmmmm, now I would like to found out is there any 44mm (or smaller) super rep come with similar as 390 but with a auto movement?

Use ALE's guide along the official the panerai website:

select the 44mm and 42mm tabs, pick the ones you like , and look in ALE's if it has been repped or not and the reviews/ rating about it...

Pam392 would be useful for you.. KW made one actually, with 7750 clone, not bad at all.

Hard to suggest an auto PAM without the date window however have a look at the PAM 104. Same Bettarini/Luminor 44mm case as the 390 and has an automatic movement (with a second sub-dial and date complication).

Basically as a first buy I would suggest to stick to the historic collection e.g. 000, 005, 111, 112, 176, 177 and for the modern the 104. Good luck!

I agree with Fire007, Ale's guide is a Pam enthusiast holy book. I've purchased three amazing pams guided by it. 312, 388 and 372.

A good 1st Pam might be a 104 or a 111.

My suggestion is go for a 44mm case.

I usually avoid pams with cyclops as the halo is an easy tell. I rather go for 111/112/177 as most of the flaws are behind.

There are no good reps of PAM Automatic without date, leaving aside some Chronos
You should learn to live with the date if you want Automatic

There are some Super rep automatic but with Closed caseback hiding the movement

Anyway, no worries about, because there are a lot of Automatic reps First Class only due to the display caseback, but the accuracy and quality (leaving aside movement) is really good and even superior to many Super reps in the market, PAM 312 KW, PAM 438 KW, PAM 388 KW... are good examples
