I was looking for a while for a solid solution to improve the color of the v7 stock insert, which is awful. I tried several methods of painting (sharpie etc), which look nice at the beginning, but I had to repeat because the color alway fades.

After researching the forum I found the post of Steve https://forum.replica-watch.info/fo...736-noob-ceramic-insert-with-platinum-plating and I was really impressed by his work.
So I decided to contact Steve @d09624008 for more information.

He explained that he was preparing some inserts, and if I wanted, I could order one of those.
After he finished, he showed the result which looked like this:

I didn't hesitate and ordered the insert, and paid on the same day via Paypal.
Steve brought the insert to the post office on 04.05. and yesterday this nice piece was delivered. Btw I live in Germany, and the shipping took less than 1 week. :p

Now I want to share the resuilt and some comparison photos to show how brilliant the insert looks.
Steve has done a great work on this and he is a very nice guy. Those who want to improve the noob insert, I recommend you to seriously consider Steves work. xDD

I paid $315 for a whole new insert, because I wanted to keep the original insert as spare part. You could send him your original insert and save up like $80.

In the first step I removed the bezel with a knife, because I didn't want to heat up the whole watch.
Then you have to put away 4 springs and 4 screws, which are responsible for the rotation and clicks, and keep them carefully for reassembling.

The insert itself is held in the bezel with double-sided adhesive tape. You might heat it up with a hairdryer and once the insert becomes loose you remove the insert carefully with a thin knife.
You need to clean the slot of the bezel where the insert was held. I used some ethanol :D
To attach the new insert, you can either use double-sided adhesive tape again, (btw you can directly look for 3M ring formatted double-sided tape for submariner on ebay) or GS Hypo Cement. I used the latter. For the better alignment of the insert, the pearl shall be exactly between two teeth of the bezel. This worked for me, you have to have a closer look at your watch if this also fits.

To reassemble the bezel, you just put back those springs and screws, and press the bezel down afterward.

Hopefully this will help :)

I wonder why noob does not do this properly.

Noob said this was improved on the v8s, but Im not sure if the color could last for longer time and doesn't fade. The color of Steve's mod doesn't fade.
