Bought a SubM recently M2M, and couple of days of wear later, link screw came loose, so put in my pocket for safe keeping. When I took it out later, noticed the entire bezel had come loose, as in pics below. Thankfully was in my pocket so the springs under bezel weren’t lost. I can put this back in easily enough, but noticed it comes free with a a moderate amount of force. Am concerned that next time the bezel could simply pop off if stuck in a short sleeve or jacket, any ideas if this is normal (I.e. does the bezel come off with “reasonable” force using fingers only) or if there is something else I should be doing to make it more secure.

It definitely shouldn’t come off that easily.

I’m not sure what the issue is but there are plenty of members on the forum that should be able to help.

This is not normal. Start by separating the crystal and crystal gasket from the bezel. You may be able to do it with two thumbs. If it's not possible you may need to buy a crystal press. Be very careful not to impose uneven pressure on the insert, they crack easily.

There should be a metal crystal retaining ring between the crystal gasket and the bezel. That should not have come off the case. Get it out and we'll go from there.

The retaining ring needs to be pressed onto the case all the way flush to the base around the crystal support ring.

Ok, so I’ve managed to separate everything as attached

Does the plastic ring go on the inside of the metal ring? Seems there is space to do this...

Thanks for any help, bit of a noob here!

Do you know what factory the watch is?

There are two gaskets, a bezel gasket and a crystal gasket. Examine the inner perimeter of the bezel gasket to see if it has stairstep profile. It goes in the groove inside the bezel. If it has a side profile, orientation matters.

The crystal retaining ring needs to be pressed onto the case as I mentioned above. See what kind of resistance there is to sliding it into position. If you don't have a crystal press, there are other ways to proceed with this step, but you are probably going to need one before this is finished.

Watch is ARF, attached is a picture of the inside of bezel insert

I meant the inside perimeter of the bezel gasket. ARF should have a stairstep profile, the "bottom step" goes UP toward the insert.

Not sure about ARF but I don’t see a retaining ring inside the bezel... I can see the little groove that should hold the retaining ring.

that may be what’s causing it to pop off. It doesn’t have a retaining ring to hold it in place
