Stuttering second hand...common? Any fix?

After receiving a dozen reps from TDs, I finally got one with a problem. I received a Pam338 with a second had that stutters. Watch keeps excellent time, but second hand jumps and stutters a several spots during its revolution. Is this a fairly common problem and does anyone have suggestions for a fix?

Its a great dress watch and otherwise perfect...but once seen, always noticed.

Sent from the RWI App

I have this same problem with a CarboTech I just purchased. I love the watch and it keeps excellent time, but the stuttering second hand drives me crazy! Not worth sending back to China but would still like it fixed.

What movement is in it? Is it a 7750 decorated or a p9000 clone? What model PAM is it? I can't tell from the pictures and I'm on my cell phone.

Ok, so those are both the superclone movements, not a 7750 with a deco plate on top, correct? If a 7750, I'd consider a local service. Superclone, I think the only option is to return to China to fix as parts are not available and from what I read the movements are quite difficult to work on. One of our mods did a good writeup on the dissassembly and reassembly.

Thanks @teddy875....Yes to superclone movement, not 7750...

After reading about the problem, i was hoping for an industrious modder or clever chap with a better solution, but alas...

Any sense of how common this problem is?

I'll have to search the forums when I'm home, but bottom line was no parts are available for repair or service and if I remember correctly, the movement was very difficult to reassemble.

The stuttering can be fully eliminated with the addition of just one very inexpensive part.

Can a 7750 be swapped into these? I tried searching and could not find any information either way.

That's a handwind 23J movement, not sure if the A7750 is a fit, but the modders would know.

I had tried installing a 7750 into a seagull case. It was a long time ago, but if I remember correctly the issue was getting the overlay aligned, since a 2555 disc does not fit a 7750. The easiest way would be to get a complete movement with DWO included, but at that point, one may as well just buy a 7750 version.

I have never taken apart a seagull because it's not worth the time considering the cheap cost of a new one. But if it's anything like the base miyota MVTs that are also indirectly driven... there could be a lever/spring that is not applying ample pressure to the second hand pinion. Therefore causing a tiny amount of slack and the occasional stutter. But that's just a guess at this point. @slaughterer62 seems to know, but I'm not sure he wants to share his trade secret. Maybe he'll hit me up on the DL ;)

I am open to any fix...i do like the watch...great dress piece...i assume the cost and complexity of trying to find a smooth working 999 mvmt and replacing would be harder than just buying a new 338
