OK - I don't frequent Shop NBC, but my mother is an addict. I recently discovered my watch obsession is genetic, as she now has over 100 watches - almost all bought off TV hype. :x
So the other day when I recieved a box, I wasn't expecting anything. I opened it to find a gift from my Mom: a Stuhrling Tempest in Rose Gold.
I must admit - it is a very striking watch. About 43mm, rose gold, skeletonized but with a very fine mesh over most of the face. Dressy and interesting, but it wasn't until I started looking closely that I became intrigued. See what you think:
The first thing I notice is the open heart. Very nice watching it go around. Then I notice the small sub-dial at the 9:00. It is NOT a GMT. It is actually a completely different and settable watch. It can be set to any time you like - not just to hour variants of the main watch. The moon-phase at 12 is a nice touch.
Turning the watch over, I see:
A nice view of the movement and the open heart. But then rotate the watch to get the rotor out of the way and it gets REALLY interesting:
TWO main springs! This is a true double-barrell watch!
I wore it for 3 days and it kept perfect time (as well as receiving as much attention and compliments as any 3 of my other watches combined!). After taking it off, it ran for about 46 hours before finally giving up.
Mom said she really liked it and had no one to buy it for, so bought 2. Sent 1 to me and kept 1 for herself to look at. She's nuts.
Anyway, she got it on sale for just under $200 delivered. Interesting movement, great looks, a really nice leather strap, 50m water tight, 5 year warranty... I think it's a lot of watch for this money. What do you guys think?
