:( Gutted, got an Oris Carlos Coste almost exactly a month ago, all has been well, Ive not hammered it or mistreated in anyway, Ive rotated its use between my other two reps (UPO and PAM 111h), looks like the bloody thread is stripped on the crown. Its like Ive just pi$$ed $300 away.
Is it worth emailing Silix? How is their service with issues like this?

Boo hoo!!

If it worked properly for a month, then you stripped it. With any watch with a screw down crown, you have to be very careful with such fine threads. The best way to prevent stripping the threads is to push in lightly on the crown and rotate it counter clockwise until you feel the threads click. Then rotate the crown clockwise and screw the crown down. Some of these watches are more delicate than others, but this method can eliminate most of the risk of cross threading.

Bummer - I know how that feels. You have to ask your WS or Silix if they can fix. Just cant let it sit there, then you'll really feel bad.

Why would you expect Silix to fix it? There was nothing wrong with it, before Speedster stripped it.

Yeah, I had been doing the old, reverse turn to catch the thread first having read a thread(ha, how apt) on the matter. Looks like I managed to screw it up anyways! grrr.

It is still wearable, as long as I dont get it wet or catch the crown on a shirt

Well those coste are well known to be prone to any problems that are plaguing rep watches, but this particular model has them all

too bad, i liked the case

Give Silix a shout. He is very good with service issues like this. You may be with out it for a while, but he may be willing to fix it if its only a month old.
Give him an email about it. You may be pleasantly surprised. :)

Yeah, the thread is really short on the oris, just having a look at my UPO now and it has several turns on the thread whereas the OCC has very little thread to catch on to. Thinking about it this echos what Ive read previously about it having not much thread.
I dont think Im that ham fisted to have caused it myself to be honest but who knows.
Ill drop him a mail, who knows..

Thanks guys....

Hi Brtelec,

I was not saying Silix should fix for free. I was suggesting that he send to his watch smith or Silix for repair. Better than having it sit there. I know it drives me nuts if one of my watches is broke down, even if i dont wear it.
