Stripped CG screws

I am getting really frustrated with the poor quality of the PAM rep crown guards! I now have a 253 and the crown guard screw holes in the case are stripped. They are very shallow to begin with and the threads probably only caught a few revolutions to start with. Now they are stripped from me gently trying to tighten the CG.

Is there a way to retap these or do I just toss the POS.

Thanks!

First off, what are you doing taking the crown guard off? Secondly, was this the first time you took it off?

If you don't plan to take it off again, then use some locktite on the screws that would work well.

The crown guard was missing a screw to start with. So I took off the CG to see if the hole was stripped. It was.

Now the second hole stripped when I went to put the CG back on.

The holes in the case are way too shallow to allow the scews to get a proper "bite" into the case. Add the pressure of the CG lever and they pull right out.

Locktite is not an option - too much pressure and not enough threads.

Case must be retapped - any member offer this service????

is it the case that is stripped or the screws that are fucked? I had a 253 that had that problem as well, and it turned out to be the screws that were stripped. the case is made of stainless steel, and the screws are made of a more mild steel so that if anything strips out first it would be the screws. try just screwing the screw into the case with out the crown guard and see if they bite. if they do then you may just need a new set of screws.

My suggestion is to try Niko`s way. He took the watch to a sunglasses store where they put him new LONGER screws wich seem to hold the CG safe now. I think he posted that the original screws were a little too short.

Where can I get some screws besides a watch store?

I think the screws are not long enough!
