So I have an Avenger Blackbird which was getting a little bit worse for wear with the DLC coating getting scuffed off in places. I've been wanting another Bandit and just went through a hassle trying to get one, to no avail. So...bored like you do...I decided to strip off the DLC coating from the Blackbird, throw it on a Bandit strap and deployant, and voila!

I'm kinda digging it! I could clean it up better but I'm actually liking the slightly distressed look to it. Thoughts?

This really is steller combination. This blackbird was not really one of my favorite breitlings but this is changing my mind. The color of the strap looks so good with the finish of the case.

Ok.. First of all: How did you do remove the dlc?

Secondly: how did you manage to damage the dlc in the first place?

Although I like what you did (the bandit is perhaps my #1 watch), I like it better with dlc coating. But bravo on the job.

I removed the coating with a rotary tool and a series of wire brush heads. It came off pretty easy. Then I used a couple different buffers to give it a bead blasted type finish.

I bought this watch used through M2M and it had already received some scuffs to the edges which wore away the coating. I’ve had several DLC watches and have never had an issue with wear. This one clearly had a weak coating. None of my other Blacksteels from GF had a problem. But I like the happy accident it caused.

Pic of the buffer?
I reshaped a clasp last night and now need to figure out how to polish it back. I’m having a hard time conceptualizing how to do it.
