since pams are so famous with changing straps, just wondering, would you rather spend say 200$ on a rep, or 1 or two lovely straps? i know straps can be addictive, but how do you draw the line? :D:woo::rofl:

Straps. You will never get the full impact of a extremely accurate rep until you toss the cheap rep strap and put on a nice Dirk or a Mario Paci PAV. Buy a few and trust me, You'll never use a rep strap again.

Strap lovers unite.. seriously i think i would go with straps too. For that money you can get either 2-3 budget straps (which are still pretty nice!) or one glorious custom exotic strap with your choice of leather. I would go for a nice custom strap anyday vs. $ 200 on a watch you probably wont get a decent rep with a reliable high beat movement but with a strap of that calibre you can take your already awesome watch to the next level. I am saving up some moolah for two straps at the moment.. custom straps are draining my bank account faster than watches.

The straps that come with rep PAMS cannot cut it. If you think that rep asso or cracked Italian calf is good enough, wait till you put on a custom strap. A whole new level imo. You don't even have to go gen PAM straps, just pick any of the trusted strap makers here. And even if you're on a budget, there are great makers out there that offer great quality for under $100. Kain Heritage is one example.

I prefer watches and good quality straps that come at a steal and worth the hunt (like on ebay)
if you don't have the look, an expensive strap or watch will never be able to help you
for me it's a balance of both sides
I have straps that I bought for $30 that even a leather maker is impressed by

I've learned that stock straps don't fit my large wrist anyway. SO I have to get custom straps by default. I've learned a lot about straps. Nothing beats a custom strap for your PAM to complete the look. Have a Malio "74" strap being made right now hope it to be my "grail" strap for my 111.

It's been said before, but a strap can do a lot to change the look of a watch. Even the thread color on the same leather can change the look of the watch and strap. There are number of strap makers which make very nice straps under $100 (ahem, tooting my own horn a bit). If you really like the PAM you have it's almost like getting another watch by putting a new strap on it. Most of your base type models, 111, 005, etc will accomplish this.

If there is interest, I could do a series of pictures showing what I mean.

Please do a series. I'm sure everyone can benefit from a dose of strap creativity!

Couldn't agree more with the rest on a series of pic tootall :)
Thinking of a good combination for my 359 that I absolutely love but the rep strap that comes with it just doesn't do it for me. Any ideas on that would be helpful :)

The strap maketh the watch. I've spend a bucket load on PAMs, now I'm spending on straps to make them sing.
