Straps for your reps (Small update for Ultimate 47mm Owners)

I am not sure if this has been discussed before but I thought I would share some of what I found out if you are looking to get a strap for your Sinn but prefer the OEM look....

First off I will start with the OEM itself.... these are generally cheaper than you may think.... but if you are in USA then the first call should be 'Watchbuys'...and if in EU.... you can go to Sinn.de direct or Chronomaster or Jura watches they take orders over the phone or by email. There si also a guy in Belguim and the Netherlands that sell them too but names escape me now.

As an example a Gen 22mm Sinn Rubber is about $100. IMHO its worth the money

But if you want leather the exact same straps are available from most strap dealers ...they are not OEM but are OEM... Daft I know but that is because Sinn outsource to well known strap makers who sell the same straps directly but without the Sinn logo etc

So if you wanted say the Pilot calf that you get with the gen U's these are actually made by Di-Modell... the type is called Chronissimo..it is availble in Brown and black plus different stitching Red, White and black etc

If you want the same sort of strap but in Alligator grain...its called the Noblissimo and is available as above...

If you want the non pilot style ie without the shoulder tabs... then its the same maker but I cannot recall there name for it...but an easy search will reveal that I am sure...

Prices on these are about a third of the gen price..so around $50-60.

If you want the more classy straps or the alligator grain then these are made by Rios1931.... Sinn do not have genuine alligator on watches like the 6100...they supply them with a very good water proof alligator grain...

These are called the 'New Orleans'...the gen is about $120 but the exact same from Rios is around $35...

Gen Alligator padded are also made by Rios1931 and are called 'Ambassador'

As for buckles these can be bought from Sinn for about $60 or on eBay for around $30... make sure you search German eBay as it has many more Sinn stuff for cheaper... so go to ebay.de and only search Sinn...dont add any english words...

Sinn also offer 2 types of diver deployant clasps (they look exactly the same) which can be bought with or without their straps...

The more expensive is the Tegimented (ie Submarine metal [hardened]) or just a standard bead blasted steel...(a bit like the reps) I think the tell is a small triangle on the clasp itself...if it aint there I am pretty sure that means its standard steel

Be careful if buying used that you aint buying the cheaper gen made in standard bead blasted steel...

The sub steel with strap is about $350...the standard steel deployant with rubber is about $230...

Sinn have in the past used Hirsch...like PAM did... as the same thing applies to OEM PAM straps... you can buy the exact same straps direct from Hirsch range :)

Breitling do the same and use Hirsch and Rios....it goes on and on with gen straps :) ;)

I think the OEM classic deployant clasps are also used/sold by Hirsch...like they do for Cartier,Longines etc... again you can fin these on strap ealers ites and eBay...exactly the smae as gen but unmarked or with H logo

Dealers for these include

Fredastraps (USA) (Though in looking I found them expensive compared to EU dealers)

Then if in EU you have

Watchbandcenter, Watches24, etc etc...

Some straps are only available in stnd sizes.... generally its 120/90 for calf etc but Rios do XL and S in the grain and other types are special order for an extra $40

Note that the gen deployants for calf are 18mm the rep deployants are 20mm.

Sinn only supply deployants in 18mm... in polish, matte and satin

I hope that helps but if anything aint clear just ask :)

PLEASE BEWARE......

All Ultimate owners..... (The 47mm with a Pig dial)

The gen rubber does not fit properly...its about 1mm to narrow and sits too low on the case between lugs and below the bezel.

I used a 24mm Chronissimo strap on the Ultimate and it fits perfectly although the rep Ultimate measures just under 24mm betwen lugs.

So I recommend any Ultimate owners go 24mm with thier straps.... (though gen is not available in 24mm...the gen alternatives talked about above are :) ) So you can have the gen look with a gen fit :)

Thanks guys :)

It was surprising the cost difference..I have known for a few years that PAM straps were just the same as a lot of Hirsch range...though some were SO... but price wise the savings were good but not as good as buying the Di-Modell instead of OEM Sinn ...

Please note Hirsch no longer make for OP so for newer models/straps you wont find those in the Hirsch range.... but anything pre 2011/2 is from Hirsch...

Though a lot of styles remain the same...

Some do have small difefrences from gen ... nomally its the wrap stitch at lugs rather than the saddle stitch finish ...

Its also worth while noting that the rep rubber is a 2 piece which is sandwiched to gether to achieve teh thickness... so if you can its always a good idea to upgrade to gen..

In addition for any guys with the 47mm Sinn Ultimate (Hour Glass SE model)

The gen rubber doesnt fit correctly...it sits too low under the bezel and is not wide enough between the lugs... :)

I just found this out.... so my gen rubber has no use :( :(

Think I paid about $80 for the last gen Sinn rubber strap I bought, much better than the rep.

Totally agree mate....the first thing that struck me taking it out of the wrapping was that velvet feel to it..

Great info, OP - I sourced a gen 18mm Sinn buckle from Germany then I sourced a gen strap for my Sinn 6100 from watchbuys.com. To my surprise, the gen strap also came with a new Sinn buckle so now I have extra. The straps are all shown with buckles but nowhere does it actually state that the buckle is included. Makes the $90 for a gen strap more than worthwhile - hell of a deal!
