Does thicker strap make your watch look smaller? I heard people with thin wrists are able to pull off a 127 with a thick (7mm+) strap?

To answer your first question, yes, a thicker strap imo makes your watch seem smaller.

However, I think it can make your wrist look smaller as well.

How thin of a wrist are we talking here? Also, how is your wrist shaped? Is it thin vertically or horizontally, or both?

And finally in the end, it all comes down to what you like and will feel comfortable wearing. If others think it looks too big, then that's their problem.

My wrists are halfway between 7.25" and 7.5" and horizontally 2.25" vertically 1.5". The fiddy almost reaches the ends of my wrist but I'd like it to reach the ends fully... was hoping a thicker strap would have that effect. So I started researching only to find the opposite... Guess I need a thin strap :p But thick straps are so much more attractive imo.

Thanks for answering :)

That is exactly what I was talking about. If it looks good to you then that's all that matters.

But, yes, it does - a good e.g is this 212 on a 5mm La Spezia GeF, in my mind it's shrunk -vs- it's old 3mm:

It has not been "tanned" with any treatments, rather, through wear and being exposed to the elements - sun, sea air, perspiration - it has developed a wonderful patina.

Speaking of which, I need to re-photo my GeF Bersaglieri, which has gone from light tan to an incredibly rich honey - really surprising. It's developed the best patina of any of my 20+ straps.

Great choice - but has taken nearly a year to develop that well.
