Strap repair - what glue to use?

My strap broke today, the loop part that holds the band.

I want to know what glue works best to glue it back together again. It feels plasticy. I've tried contact adhesive but that doesn't stick well. I don't think expoxy or super glue are the right choices either.

Does anyone have any suggestions? ?

Contact should work, was the leather clean? If there is oil on it then adhesive won't stick.
If it won't work I would in fact try a small dot of superglue gel but it must be clean!

try sowing it again

I'm not sure how burying it in the dirt will help his problem, but hey whatever floats your boat.

But in all seriousness, you could try sewing it again. But most likely the holes are ripped. In this situation, the best remedy would be to use weldwood and just clamp it overnight. If the piece is too slick, you may have to roughen the area with a bit of sandpaper first.

If that all fails, send me a PM I may have a spare keeper laying around. If I don't, I am pretty sure someone on here does.

Yes unfortunately I cannot sew it back because the holes are ripped.
The weird thing is it feels more plasticy than leathery. I did use Weldwood and clamped it overnight. It held ok, until I bent it slighty to simulate what would happen when wearing it. The result was it came apart at the glue, so the glue didn't hold up.

Hirsch leather bands used to be secured with adhesive. When that adhesive would pop loose, customers would bring them in for repair. Our watchmaker would clean the area with acetone and sometimes they'd rebond with pressure - acetone would re-active the glue. If not, after cleaning with acetone they'd use a product like Aleene's Leather & Suede Glue (you can find it on Amazon)

We'd use a clamp like this one to hold it while waiting for the adhesive to kick overnight:
