So when wearing your strap I assume the PERFECT fit would be in the 4th MIDDLE hole putting the buckle at the center of your wrist. So, if it is just not possible to get a strap to fit perfectly in the center...... what is the opinion, do you go longer or shorter? In other words, would you rather be on the sixth hole in an have the strap too small or the 6th hole in and have the strap a little long?

Thanks for you help!

Right, YahooLocker. That's what he's asking for, YOUR personal preference.

msean, I prefer my straps a little on the longer side. So I would go with on the 6th hole with more tail. I hate straps that are too short/just barely fit.

You can't go by strap holes. Some straps only have 1 or 2 holes in them. This should be obvious. Rather, you really need to measure your wrist in mm, and subtract the "short-side" of the strap from that number. Then determine where you want the tail to be(some like the tail to wrap almost completely around, others prefer shorter) and choose the length accordingly. Simply, and worth the time IMHO.

It is all about the individual watch, buckle and wrist. Also the thickness and flexibility of the strap is a determining factor. I wouldn't be worried about which hole the buckle is in.

I have some straps with 3 holes and some with 1 hole. But I also have a few with a bunch of holes. I think it is personal preference.

Also the length of the tail is personal preference as is the width and number of keepers. The length of the short strap also determines where the buckle ends up on your wrist. Some people like it to the side and some in the middle.

Just go with whatever you prefer.

That's the perfect length, in my opinion... although too long is definitely worse than too short, I think. Nice strap, btw!

If you are concerned that you might be between two holes on your strap, just do this.

Get yourself a bottle or something that is round and graduates in diameter from small to large.
Buckle your strap on the hole that is just a little too tight on you and keep it there.
Wet your strap down liberally. Get it pretty soaked. (don't worry, your leather is pretty resilient and can take the soaking)
Place the watch on the bottle and really snug down the watch so it stretches out the strap. (don't get too aggressive as you will stretch it too much)
Leave it over night on the bottle and let the strap dry. When you take it off and place it on your wrist, you will have a strap that should be a "just perfect" fit on you

I'm with crick. Although my wrists are a tad bigger, that GeF Valdarno in my pic above is 130/85. That is my preferred length...

I just ordered a custom strap from Simona straps with a custom buckle engraving and I got a 150/90 for a little extra tail. I have a pretty big wrist and I want the tail to really hang.
