Strap help MP vs OF vs MF vs GeF

Ok all you strap freaks. I'm looking for a strap for a 177H and need a little education on what the fundamental differences are between these strap makers.

I think MP and GeF should have the same quality (they both sold at tcstraps for the same price). I recently bought GeF and Toscana in same color, and they look identical (except the logo), so should be the same as MP. Don't know about OF and MF though

They are all good and they are top end producers with many traditional styles and leathers. But which ones to choose, that my friend is totally subjective and up to you. The ugly truth is you will probably need to try them all. That is the sickness that H_U came down with and which also struck me many months ago. Run, run, run.........don't walk.....before you become infected !!!

MP, GeF and OF are all straps made in the same factory, on the same production line, and frequently of the same leather. The differences are minor, like box vs open-ended stitching, color of the stitch, thickness and frequency of the stitch, as well as buckles types and finishes. While leather is seleceted "by hand" none of these straps are made entirely by hand, however they're still very nice.

MF is made by another leather factory in Florence and is neither related nor affiliated with MP/Elliot's business in Campi Breli by any means.

I like most of the higher end MP/GeF/Toscana straps, athough the best strap by far that came into my possesion is the MF 1942...there's simply no substitute for it, IMO. :wink:

OF is simply a more affordable option for more expensive MP straps, they don't excite me much. In that price/quality range I'd rather opt for alternatives like Don or Bob straps.

ive never been able to get myself to pull the trigger on one of the hi end straps from E, they all just seem like they look too ridgid, and too thin, plus some of them are bloody expensive
i have one toscana strap which is actually pretty nice but they dont have it anymore

im contemplating the sctrap culture series, im kinda curiuous where they are made, their site says they ship HK which gets me kinda leary abt getting anything from there.

im probably really spoiled because i have a orignal crazy horse by greg stevens whcih is probably the best strap ever, ive seen people on paneristi sell them for 200bucks
