Sticking Rotor

I've noticed the power reserve on my Big Pilot (a7750 sec @ 6) didn't seam right, it actually stopped today while I was wearing it ......

I've just had the case back off, and the rotor doesn't turn very freely if I rotate the watch.

Any suggestions on a fix?

Oh, no...I fear this may be beyond a simple fix. Is the rotor tight? Does it free spin in one direction and wind in the other? Does it spin freely? If you hand wind it will it stay running? I'm thinking you may be looking at sending it out for service.

The rotor screw is tight, yes it free spins one way and winds the other.

The rotor will spin but not freely, if I rotate the watch with the case back off, the rotor turns about a 1/4 turn for ever full revolution of the watch

Can you wind it manually? How long will it stay running?

Yes,

It's usually fine, still running in the morning when I put it back on, just noticed today it had stopped. Gave it a shake and couldn't really hear the rotor spin, that's when I took the back off to check

I've taken it off now, will check on it in 8 to 9 hours to see if it's still running

I'd give it a good 40-60 winds tomorrow morning and then see if it'll stay running as worn. It should run 35+ hours on a full charge.

UPDATE - with a good wind up it will run for 30+ hours, problem is if i don't keep winding it up it will eventually run out of charge.

If i unscrew the crown whilst the case back is removed the movement is loose within the case, is this normal?

Definitely not normal. The whole lot should be held in place with movement holder tabs. If they're missing, it's possible something has come out and got lodged in the automatic works.

Also possible if the movement is loose and not secured properly that the rotor is resting on the caseback and not spinning.
