I recently became interested in Steinhart watches, thanks largely to my good friend midasmook who recently bought an Ocean One Vintage Military - see here ) and I decided to take the plunge and order their Ocean One Vintage Red - a homage to the Rolex Double Red Sea Dweller.
I ordered it on 21st October knowing that there would be some delay in receiving it due to high demand (as indicated on the Steinhart website) but they also advised me direct by email that they would need 5-8 days additional "packing time". However, it was shipped quicker than expected and arrive by FedEx on 31st October.
The watch was contained in a nicely finished soft-touch watchbox with Steinhart hang-tag, which was itself contained with a sturdy white Steinhart box - all very well presented. The instructions and warranty were also in the box.
As for the watch itself, well, I'm astounded by the quality, fit and finish! This watch cost 350 Euros (circa $470) so was not much more costly than a high quality rep PAM or Breitling, and was less than the best AP ROO reps - pretty good for a Swiss made watch! I really can't fault it in any respect!
The movement is a Swiss ETA 2824-2, 25j, 28,800bph with hacking seconds. Performance to date has been absolutely on the money - it didn't vary by even one second since Thursday evening until I checked it again yesterday and then again this morning. Fantastic!
It has a domed sapphire crystal with AR, and C3 Superluminova. Case size is 42mm in diameter, the overall height is 13mm and the lug width is 22mm.
The crown is screw-in and water resistance is rated at 300m/1000 feet/30 ATM.
The bracelet is beautifully brushed, the removable links are screw-in and the clasp snaps over positively.
All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this watch and, from what I've seen so far, Steinhart Watches in general. I'll certainly be looking to add another one to my collection in 2014!
I took some quick pics yesterday - hope you enjoy.
