Hello everyone....I dropped my old SOSF and broke it ????.

Looking for a replacement I contacted numerous TD’s and all said they are no longer made...except Tony at Asian7750...he said he can get one from BP.

Does anyone have experience with the quality of the BP version? I’m willing to pay more for a quality rep and don’t want to bother with poor version at all.

I searched extensively and could not find this info on BP’s Steelfish A17390. sorry if I missed it somewhere...

thanks for any insight you can provide!!

BP? Don't think so.

Usually you'll find sosf's in the m2m sales section.

Here is one on Purtime but they don't mention the factory. Ask your TF who makes this watch. The higher price is in line with the better factories such as GF, Noob, and BP.

I sent Puretime an email a few days ago when I was reaching out to many of the TD’s. I got an auto reply that they were on holiday and would reply back later this coming week. I inquired if it was avail and asked which factory this one is...my worry is that even though on their website it still may not really be avail. I have my fingers crossed...appreciate you pointing this one out.

Relax. You will learn you need patience in the Rep hobby. Everything takes longer. When you have spare time search for Chinese Offical Holidays. You will be aware of the major holidays because everything shuts down.

FYI...Tony wrote me back, apologized, and said he was incorrect. he confirmed there are no factories currently making this version.

puretime also wrote me back and as I assumed the watch on their site is no longer available either...

Thanks for your input.

I’ll keep looking on M2M....I doubt it’s worth trying to fix the one I broke.

it’s still runs. This issue is that it landed right on the crown, it won’t screw back in and it’s very loose and sloppy, I can move the crown back and forth and the entire face moves around. It’s like a threaded insert broke. And the numbers and makers came loose inside.

you think it’s worth fixing? I’m

Oops hit send to soon....I’m thinking I might get a new movement and try to have it repaired. I love this watch...not sure if its one of the good ones or not but I’ve compared it to a gen and it is pretty much identical. Would love your opinion on if it’s worth fixing...thanks!!

The loose parts in the dial are all glued in to place. So that's a easy fix.

If it still runs, a replacement won't be necessary.
The loose movement is probably due to loose/broken movement screws. This could explain why you can't fasten the crown. But not sure on that.

Could post a picture of movement without the case back?
If you don't have a case back opening tool, make a ball of duct tape (sticky side out).

As it has emotional value, you should give it try to fix it. But don't spend to much money.

Looks like the craptastic Z2 movement. No replacement parts available but you can directly swap in a 2836. Swiss or Chinese it doesn't matter, it's a drop in fit.

Ok thank you all for your input!!

Any thoughts in the watch head? do u see any major flaws?

I always thought this was a good one but am definitely not an expert...and since the movement isn’t quality perhaps I was wrong on the watch head?

I bought this a few years ago M2M just for the bracelet...I wanted the bracelet for my Noob Abyss Chrono...I was never really a steelfish fan until this arrived in the mail and I tired it on. I learned that I like it a lot better than my Abyss Chrono. I ended up buying gen rubber and clasp for the Steelfish and it’s been my daily wear ever since.

I’d like to continue to build it with a quality movement but if the head isn’t quality I will continue my search for a better one.

again thanks for your input.

Flaws ?

thats as good as they get rep wise , biggest flaw is the depth of the engraved markers on the bezel , but like i said , its a good rep

Awesome!! That makes me feel better about fixing it...and about my judgement when comparing it to gen...lol.

if I did my research correctly a good clone is the Seafull ST2100...I’ll probably go for that unless I find a good deal on an eta.

I appreciate you guys. Thanks! :)

Yeah, duct tape is a life saver.

See the little hole/button where the stem goes in the movement? Press that and pull the stem at the same time. It will come out. Don't press to hard or will mess up the keyless.

Remove the 3 outer screws, turn your watch around and the movement will simply drop out.

When glueing the markers back, use a little as possible. Or it will flow on to your dial. Also, let it dry without the case. The glue vapor can mess up the crystal.

I'd go for a Chinese 2836. Cheap and pretty decent

Still, I believe finding a new one m2m is the cheapest option

I’m a little worried about screwing up the numbers and markers on the face...if I don’t get them lined up straight enough are they difficult to pull back off and try again?

Yes. They will be.

First try it without glue.
If you don't feel comfortable enough, use a mild adhesive glue instead of super glue. This way you might be able to remove it
