Hi anyone and thanks to entered this thread
I’m thinking at a new project that involves the ST19 movement and the vintage Daytona vj72 case.
Many vintage enthusiasts would like to have a more possible gen-like vintage Daytona but without spending the 6/7k $ to have a good high end build.
I thought about a way to have really aesthetically medium/high build gen-like vintage Daytona from a minimum budget of 1000$:
500/600$ for a mid quality viet VJ72-specs complete case
400/500$ for a good viet dial
Obviously there are very high quality VJ72 full cases that costs more than 2000$ and even dials that cost around 1000$… exactly as there are low quality VJ72 full cases at 260$ (like the one from AliExpress) and low quality dials for 150$ from some sellers.
But the whole point of this, the real deal, is to fit the ST19 movement in the VJ72 case, and here the things get tough
AWe know that VJ72 is 29.5 mm x 6.25mm and ST19 is a bit larger so for the fit we will need to enlarge the case or reduce the movement, or even both together, but wait…
We can’t ruin a VJ72 case working on it…..
Then, I started searching on the web if someone have ever tried to do this before and I found a brave man who did exactly this, reshaped the ST19 to a smaller diameter, then applied a little distancer between the glass and the movement to make the height match too and let the stem and the pushers works!
ST19 movement can be find at 80$ or 100.
Now conclusions:
We can have a Vintage Viet Daytona powered with a ST19 at less than half the price
If we want very good viet parts that will be around 1600$ completely with movement too
For lower budgets we can have the 260 case (AliExpress - not engraved) and the 150 dial (yuki) and with another 80$ the movement. In this case we need st19 hands too that can be found on eBay as alpha chronograph hands for 10$ for a total of 500$!!!
So… it’s a real deal! Only have to decide the budget to spend!
I will continue another time with the technical parts
ARE YOU INTERESTED???
thanks
