Had a little time over the weekend so I decided to put a watch together.

Utilizing the ST 36 (6498 copy) which is more famous in the IWC FA Jones watches. This chinese movement has a lot going for it. The looks the price and super reliability not to mention the nice size.

First thing is to measure the correct stem length. This one came out to about 14 mm.

A little adhesive on the end of the stem and then glue the crown on.

Basic black dial for 6498.

The case size is 43 mm.

Good to hear from you Stefan. I went ahead and ordered a strap for it but I should have checked with you first since I'm such a strap noob. Ordered a Di-Modell Chronissimo strap, I hope that's a good one LoL.

Stefan, I finally got the strap, it feels like the quality is very good. For the next project I would like to order one from one of our resident strap guru's here. Thinking of trying to put together a homage to the Marine Original with a pocket watch dial, if I can find the right case that is.

I know that a plain or sterile dial does not appeal to many, but building a watch is getting to be more fun than buying reps. :D

Anyway pics with the strap.

If you're talking about a Stowa Marine homage, that's on my list as well. A nice dial is supposed to become available in a couple of weeks.

Yes a Stowa MO. It seems to be very hard finding the right dial but please let me know if and when you hear anything. I would be grateful. Thanks avitt.
