Spring Bars or Screw ins?

Seeing all the pics on here with people's strap combos I'm guessing you change them about a bit and I've started getting some different straps for mine. This started me thinking do you use spring bars to allow easy quick swap overs or are you staying with the screw outs? Won't the threads on the case start to wear or does the spring bar scratch up the threads instead? :hypnotized:

Most PAMs are screw bars or quick release which uses a button on the underside of the lugs but there are a couple of spring bar models too. Just be careful using your screwdriver and its fine.

I prefer the screw in style. Just need to be careful.
Springs could easily fail in my opinion.

Thinking about going with the springboard myself. Been changing straps a lot and seems like it would be easier with springbars.

I have dozens of the special pam spring bars from Panatime. Makes a huge difference.

Just be aware that those special springbars will bugger the threads eventually making a return to the correct screwbars impossible.

This ^

I've only used springbars when the thread is stripped. But if you intend using them permanently then a mangled thread won't be a concern.

I can't really understand why anyone would use them unless the threads are had it anyway. If the gen was bars so should be your rep and besides screw in bars are so much more secure than SBs. If you haven't a decent driver the correct size and the patience to spend an extra minute in a strap change just pick a strap and leave it on there.

My favorite feature of my 328 is the button that allows the bars to slip out freely making strap changes an absolute breeze. Its like a small detent button, the bars do not have any springs themselves they are solid. I am not sure the correct name for this feature but its way easier than screw ins.

I suppose I will carry on using screw ins until the thread eventually wears then resort to spring bars.

The spring bars shouldn't be a problem with a special tool. I wouldn't like to try with a knife for fear of stratching the case and a knife will almost certainly be far more difficult anyway.

Ah, that's not how a PAM spring bar comes out anyway mate, you depress them from the outside of the lug hole.
