Not sure if this is a dumb question but where do you find gen parts to make a franken? Ebay? Any other verified sources?

Short answer: Anywhere you can get them.
My go to places are: Chrono24, Ebay, RolexForums (or whatever brand is there), reddit forums, Repgeek, RWI(of course) and the watch part groups on facebook.
Caveat: Know what you are looking at - study your parts - you are fortunate to be on here - the guys on Reddit refer to the RWI crowd as "a group of Rainman level watch savants" because most of us pay such extreme attention to detail.
