Hello All,

Firstly, I am new here, having just registered today, so sincere apologies if this is not how things are done…

I am trying to source a Rep Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary (including the presentation box).

It‘s a watch that I have admired (from afar) for years, but simply can’t afford the 5 figure price tag

Anyway, is there an easy way to source one of these (preferably from a TD), or is it simply a case of contacting each one and seeing if they have one (or checking each TD’s website)?

Do certain TD’s specialise in certain brands at all? Would I be better off concentrating on certain dealers that specialise in Omega Reps?

I suppose I should also really ask if the Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary, including the presentation box, is even one that has been reproduced? Am I trying to source something that maybe doesn’t even exist?

Anyway, I would very much appreciate any help in my search please, as I am sure there are some very knowledgeable people on here.

Many thanks 🙏

Hi, OMF made it. I don't know if the thickness is acceptable (14 mm)...

Bingo!

The manual-winding Speedmaster is a special case as there is unfortunately no replica movement that matches the position of the three sub-dials.

Every replica of the Moonwatch that exists has the enormous flaw of the spacing between the sub-dials being way too large due to the available chronograph movements.

If that major flaw doesn't bother you, you may find one here on M2M or with a TD, although I'm not sure whether an Apollo 11 50th anniversary is available, but Moonwatch reps with the aforementioned sub dial flaw do exist.

Thanks so much for the help guys...much appreciated!

Firstly, regarding the thickness, yes, 14mm is definitely thicker than the genuine article (I think it's 13mm)...and I am not massively happy with overly thick watches...

Secondly, it sure looks like the dial is, at best, an approximation of the genuine article...in those two comparison pics there is so much wrong with the Rep dial...I would ideally like it that if the two were placed side by side, you would be hard pushed to tell the difference with looking closely. But from those two pictures, the Rep stounds out a mile...even the writing and font are different.

I'll keep looking, just in case, but it isn't looking overly hopeful!

Thanks very much for the help

I believe you can find a quartz version of the watch in question that happens to have a bit better sub dial spacing but it is a quartz and I recall the dial quality is, at best, meh. I think @C Master had one he might be able to share photos of.

Thanks for the help guys...

It's funny, because the only reason all of this came to light was that I saw an ad appear on my Instagram timeline for an Apollo 11 50th Anniversary replica, that had the box and everything...but I was very wary of any ads that just pop up on Instagram.

But that got me looking and thinking about getting one...but finding one is another matter!

Maybe if @C Master has one and is kind enough to share some photos, that might help me decide...

Much appreciated :)

Blue and black ones were produced in Quartz reps. They look good from a distance :) There were no presentation boxes with them as far as I know. They are still knocking about on DHGate. The bracelet is very good on it. It is quartz so it is thinner than the A7750 reps. An ST19 manual might be also thinner than the A7750. I do not know if they made them with manual Venus movements.

I just realised I wear this one a lot.

It does look very nice on mate...probably a bit bigger than I would normally wear myself...I believe they are 44mm and 16mm deep.

Someone has offered me a Black one (here in the UK, where I am) and is going to put a 'For Sale' thread up offering it tomorrow, and I will see how I get on with the larger size (I normally go 41mm, with 42mm at a push)...

Thanks so much for the photos...I am pleased that you wear it. It must mean that you like it! As I said earlier (to the guy offering me the black one)...if the Rep looks this nice, I can only imagine how incredible the genuine one must look!

Cheers,
Kevin

This one is 41 and definitely less than 15mm.

Speedies wear big probably due to the thin bezel compared to a sub.

Ah, 41mm...the guy offering me his black one seems to think it's 44mm and 16mm deep...but he said he will double check it tomorrow.

Did you get yours from DHGate? I see they have them listed on there (the black one at least)...I'm trying to see if the listing on there says what case size it is, but there very limited actually info that I can see...

Thanks for the size info...that helps in a big way!

I can certainly see the difference in your 41mm and 44mm photos! Thanks

Possibly an A7750 version. 44mm in a Speedie is indeed a large watch.

Yes mine came from DHGate. A word of warning ask them for photos. The black ones sometimes have a stainless steel bezel rather than a plated gold bezel.

This is all really useful information, thanks…

If, indeed, the guys watch is a 44mm then I might pass on it and pay the extra and order from DHGate…

I have never used DHGate before…is it a place for sellers to sell items or is it an actual store? If I ask DHGate for pictures to make sure I get the correct plated gold bezel, would I effectively be dealing with a private seller?

The photos that accompany the listing on DHGate…do they tend to be stock photos then? should I ask for photos of the actual watch I will receive? is that how to do it?

Thanks for all of the help! (y)
