So I'll leave out the details...here are the quick facts.

1. I got scammed on ebay for a breitling. Won the auction, paid via paypal over 500$, then within minutes of payment, ebay cancelled all this guys other auctions, and he is no longer a registered user. I'll admit, the price was too good, the guys feedback too low, but I was greedy... I am dissapointed ebay didn't contact me earlier before I paid. Typical.

2. I've filed a paypal dispute, contacted ebay (they are useless). Paypal is waiting for him to respond...doubtful. I've emailed the seller, no response (suprising?).

3. I've emailed most of the sellers/buyers that have sold/bought from him in the past on ebay, telling them the story and requesting shipping information/ phone number they used to send him the items in an attempt to try to get his contact info/address. Doubt that will work out at all.

I am not Mr. Super Sneakey Hacker Internet Ebay Web-Guru Guy...and I don't have time to chase this guy.

Tell me I am naive, but I do expect to get my money back from paypal at some point. The issue is...I am mad.

Can someone offer suggestions on locating this guy or making life difficult for him.

Location of the seller is Singapore if that matters.

I don't want to post the name etc, but if Mr. Super Sneakey Hacker Internet Ebay Web-Guru Guy is bored and looking for a project, I can PM them what I know.

Thanks guys.

I would be glad to donate some of the recovered funds to RWI.

Find the guy and show up at his house, and I'll mail you my AP :D (joking)

Dude,

Nobody is call you names or flame you for getting scammed. F that guy - lets go find him (really - I would help). Honestly though, I think you're going to have a hard time. I would keep working with PayPal (even call them if you need to - I think they are still in Omaha).

Let me know if I can help in any way (although I'm not a super sneaky, Mr. Hacker, type).

Mate....a lot of us are based in Singapore. Do share the details and let's see if we can track this bugger down.....though tracking someone on the basis of just ebay username might be a toughie.

You know, I'll never understand why people set out to take advantage of others. And publicly, in these cases.

But so far as I can tell, you're going to put in a lot of effort to no real purpose. What are you going to do? Yell at him? Write him nasty notes? He isn't going to care. If you have him beat up, you're just making work for some poor ER doc. It's not like the guy doesn't know he's doing something wrong, and we can hope to make him change his ways if we just educate him.

So if you're pretty sure that you're going to get your money back, then be at peace that he will undoubtedly be rewarded as he deserves eventually. :)

@AHW676 - Not sure what that reffers too? "take advantage of others"

I gotta say, I usually am an advocate of the high road, and I firmly believe that people get what they deserve. ( I see it on a daily basis) I did read what I wrote, and yes it is a little immature, and angry, I'll agree.

BUT...

If this guy gets a angry letter at his home, or a couple of phone calls, rather than some easily ignored angry emails and a notice from paypal, I think he/she might think a little harder before trying it again, seeing as there might be some real consequence if continued.

Internet transactions are so impersonal that anyone, even a "mostly honest person", can easily take advantage of a faceless paypal account. When it comes a little closer to home, thats a whole different story.

Now as far as showing up at his home and beating him up...it's really not in my character. I am past those times in my life when that would have seemed like a good idea. And about creating extra work for the docs, well thats why we are so well paid isn't it? Seriously though, I hope no one misinterpreted what I said as a threat to this person, because that wasn't my intent.

My goal was simply to see if my interesting group of friends here could come together and utilize their skills to give me some information to shake this guy up a little. It might help someone else out down the road, and would probably make me feel at least a little better.

That said, I am still up for the hunt. Reading my original post ticked me off again....

PM me if you guys want the info I have...

Thanks everyone!

Don't think you can't make their life miserable. About a year or two ago both Klink and I got scammed by a member. I tracked him down just through Google and a little help from the forum Admin found where he lived, where he worked, what his boss's name was, his sister's name and where she lived. He was begging for the phone calls to his office to stop before he lost his job. We both got our watches the next week. All it takes is some spare time and persistence.

Booooooooring! No, no, no. Money back AND nailing the guys scrotum to the floor is what is needed for squaring this! (This actually happened to a friend of mine. He deserved it. No vital parts injured and it healed quickly but it took him some time to get up from the floor...)

Xplodr (who is, believe it or not, actually an ER doc)

NO! NO! NO! Not you, silly! The OTHER guy was the guy who's taking advantage of others.

No, I'm wholeheartedly on your side. I just figure that your time is valuable and that you shouldn't kill yourself trying to bring justice on this guy.

That being said, if you want to go after him, by all means, have at him. I just had to voice my opinion. :)

Well, okay, if you want to nail his scrotum to the floor, that's different. That's a quick ER assessment and work for the urologist instead. :)

Actually had to repair a lacerated scrotum a few years ago though. Minor jousting mishap at the Renaissance Festival. :)

LMAO! Interesting story Ex.

Okay, ruffle his feathers, get your cash back, swing the hammer, get the guy a bucket of ice and call it a mission. :D

Or get your money back and think about all the watches you can buy. :D

That sucks roasted weenies gasdoc. I don't understand how a person can get away with
that kind of sheeit. A person can put an item for bid, then sell it and close the account five minutes later and keep the money? That is clearly criminal and ebay should be accountable, but no doubt they make users sign a waiver disallowing responisibilty.

Was the watch advertised as a gen?

Best of luck with this GD

Did somone say lacerated scrotum?

That story made this thread worthwhile already, nice one!

Haven't seen the scrotum lac, plenty of fractured shafts though. I love waking up at night for that one, always a laugh.

Best ever was when the wife asked, how could this happen? The Urologist says, "How did your husband tell you it happened?"

Guess she wasn't there at the time huh?

Ouch, got to hurt! The scrotum laceration I mean. Not the getting it presentable again. Unless you have to stand in an awkward position for a prolonged period in which case you may get a slight discomfort in the back and neck. Or if you have bad, uncomfortable shoes. Or when you have your gloves on and get an itch on the nose. Man, that is a pain in the butt. Or if you are in the same situation and get a pain in the butt. Or if you were halfway through your night sandwich when that guy comes in with his scrotum, and the spear (or whatever that jousting weapon is called) has hit an artery, and there is simply no time to finish the sandwich. Or when you can't find all the pieces of the scrotum and when you are finished the guy realizes that you have just rendered him the worlds smallest scrotum. (But honestly, there usually is some surplus to go around.)

Eeeeh? So, back to replica discussions? 8)

Presentable? I'm scrupulous about most of my laceration repairs. But I have to admit, it's hard to get really excited about making a scrotum lac presentable. I mean, okay, this is probably the wrong thing to say in a forum of 99% male members, but when did a scrotum EVER look attractive?

Don't you mean 4th floor?
Orchard Towers?

(Those of you who know, know what I'm talking about)

But really...did the guy have actual pictures of the watch, or did he use stock photos from Breitling?
