Uggh, it's so difficult to tell what to get; especially when it's going to be my first strap.

There are things like thickness that I have no clue about e.g. will 5mm be good for me or too thick but the biggest problem I'm worried about is the accuracy of the colour in real life as compared with viewing it on some website; particularly when considering that most strap pictures are taken under direct lighting that can affect how they look.

*sigh* There's no real purpose to this post other than a cry of frustration.

So far, all I know is that I like several of the Strap Culture straps e.g. the Legend Historic Brown or Antiqua Wood Carving or Chocolate Brown as well as the Greg Crazy Horse straps. I thought I had it narrowed down but then I saw some Strap Culture straps posted on the Paneristi forums like this one

and it looks totally different to what it looks like on the website. I think this strap looks pretty hot (except for the stupid skull and crossbones on the buckle) in this pic whereas I completely passed it over on their website as being too "orange".

ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the most expensive straps you can buy are

Greg Stevens - any of his stuff, but I especially like Crazy Horse and Horween series

I do like the look of SC from pictures and it seems like it's a great value too (TWP has special pricing for RWI members I believe).

Savage and Tootall make great straps too and offer much much better price than the 4 mentioned above. very talented strap makers, in my opinion.

If you like more exotic stuff, ABP is a great option too, as well as HK Tan.

I also recommend this guy from Paneristi called "JSwing" - Jeffrey Strap. I obtained one of these from H_U and it's simply of amazing quality for around 100 dollars. He uses Horween leather as well.

Hope this helps :) I do not own any of these (except for JSwing), but I sorta put together my response from people's feedback, and what I have observed in person and from pics, etc.

I love SC Historic Brown that I got two. It looks great against a black dial. Get in on TWP's group buy and get it for close to $80. I am sure you won't regret it.

Thanks for the suggestions JOEJOEJOE. I will look into those (have already checked out a few). My current price point is up to about $120 so that rules out some straps like those from Mario Pauci.

Not so much into exotics either. Currently, I am looking for a brown strap that's kind of vintage or "antique" looking. I can picture it in my head and the pic of the strap I posted is kind of close to what I'd like.

I'm aware that TWP was offering some SC straps but I wasn't sure if that's a regular thing for him or he just had some on hand. Will have to get in touch with him.

I also know those guys you mentioned make some great straps that people seem to be happy with but haven't seen anything from them that looks similar to what I want for my upcoming 112H.

And again, the issue for me is - what on earth does it look like in real life?!

Thanks again for your reply.

Ooh, didn't know about that. Will have to check it out.

Thanks.

They're somewhat pricey, but my favorite are Gabo straps...I don't think they have a site...but are for sale on Paneristi.

Joe, yuou pretty much covered them all but i need to add pete2835 as well. hes using leather from game carribou he hunts up in northern Canada. His straps are the softest arround. Anubis has gotten a few from him and i have one that will be made by him next week.
