and nobody would ever think this was a rep. I've come to the conclusion that nobody will question its authenticty because people in my social circle know I can afford one. Staying in touch with fashion helps, too. If I rocked a Daytona, I'm pretty sure I'd raise some eyebrows. It's OK if you don't care about this stuff; I personally went rep because I found the song-and-dance w/ ADs to be annoying.

If you're a first time buyer, and are fretting about this stuff, I wouldn't sweat it. At all. I am going to look into getting a deep crystal, though. Just need to figure out what that process is like and the web is all over the place with info.

A place of darkness and light a.k.a. EU
But then again, we tend to overestimate the significance of watches and we overestimate how much other people know about watches.

We live in an enthusiast bubble and sometimes it's easy to forget how small this bubble is.

Yes, Rolex makes over a million time pieces per year. Yet, there are billions of people who don't give a fuck. Also, a very high number of those watches are sold to people that will for example buy a Date Just... And then only know about Date Justs and be unaware about the other models.

Watch enthusiasts with intimate knowledge and the ability to visually legit check are a tiny amount of people... So tiny, you may never run into more than a handful over the course of your entire life.

Do I understand you correctly? You took the rep into an AD?

You can take your rep wherever, nobody here cares whether you took it to an AD. ADs are not the ultimate authority anyway, certainly not that person that meets you at the front.

Tell me again when you take your rep to Rolex and have a full service successfully.

For any AD, as far as I know, even if they spot reps, most of them won't say a thing unless you are trying to trade in that rep.

Taking your rep to an AD is frowned upon.

However concur with everything said above, the amount of people that can spot the differences are minimal, and the amount of people that don't even care is massive

Also, remember the counter staff is trying to get a sale from you, so they wouldn't call you out regardless since that could cost them the sale. Another point is for all they know, you could have bought it thinking it genuine. The last thing they would want is to interject themselves into that kind of situation.

Well, to be fair to the OP, he did not mention anything about cockily parading his rep around or that he asked them to check it out. 😂

It would indeed be against forum etiquette to tell stories about that in here...

But it's no problem to enter a Rolex boutique with your rep.. As long as it's under your sleeve or in your pocket, ideally. 🤣

I am unclear regarding the comment about staying in touch with fashion. Could you elaborate a bit more on what exactly you mean by that? I am a female, so I am curious.
