Well I just recently came to the forum and didn't think much of the Panerais and ordered my first watch the Rolex YM which I didnt get yet, and I am already starting to check out the Panerais, ouch.

They are really growing on me as a nice classy watch. I have a question though. I really am not too crazy about the Luminor models because they are too thick but I think the radiomir case would suit me better with long sleeve shirts etc... Thing is I am finding out that the case is not very accurate to the original which is a turnoff for me since I want it to be a very close replica. In addition I would like an auto and not a manual wind because I dont want to have to do it every morning and will not always wear the watch etc...

So are there any accurate radiomir cases that are automatic that are without chrono AND date just the second hand (I think thats the beauty of the Panerai the simplicity and elegance)? Your feedback is welcome as well as any speculation when you think we can have an accurate radiomir rep.

I do not own any Radiomirs at the moment, and I cannot comment about the accuracy of the cases.

But you could try a 190, which appears to come with an asian auto.

It fits your no-date no-chrono requirements.

When you do get the YM, post some pics and give us some of your thoughts? i'm curious to know what you think of it.

my wrist is small so i went with the 40mm luminors. I have no experience with radiomirs, though i've seen some Diesels that are shaped like them

Here in California, i only see a couple AD's, most of them in LA, and maybe one or two in nor caL (Shreve being the ONLY AD up here that i know of). And thus far, i've only seen one used Pannie at a Tourneau.

I to this day have only seen one guy wearing a panerai in a restaurant. Nice young fella, drove up in an aston martin... bastard.........

I haven't much a chance to look at any radiomirs. Closest i've looked at are some of teh 42's, particularly teh wempe limited edition. All those manual chrono's i think are not accurate to genuine counterpart because the Lemania copy manual wind doesn't have a date wheel...

how bout the manual wind radiomirs? nice morning winding ritual? no date to worry about too.

if you find an AD, drop by and try some on... it made me buy a rep the very same day i tried one on at an AD.

wonder how many people would even recognize a panerai?

the 190 looks good except I dont like the hands. they seem different from the usual panerai hands. Whats the 8 minute thing?

And I know not a lot of people have them but still if someone does as they are becoming more popular I dont want a watch where the case itself is a give away.

Well, sorry to tell you but FAR more people recognize and know the details of Rolex FAR better than Panerai. So, if case accuracy is a worry, you'd better plan on getting your YM crown guards reshaped (most likely they are slightly the wrong shape).

I understand the desire to have a very accurate rep, but most of them have flaws that someone "in the know" will be able to spot.

That's the price you pay.

Yeah, the 183 sucks!

I'll post pics of mine when I get it back from a re-lum and cannon pin fix. I'm guessing it'll be 99% with the only issue being the daggerless swan neck thingy. I might get busted, but someone is gonna have two black eyes as they try to pry it off my wrist to check the back side.

The CGs on the new YM should be pretty accurate and if they are not, I am planning on getting them re-shaped :) That should be really the only tell with the new YM.
I understand reps have flaws but I only want to have a rep that will get recognized but someone that knows their stuff, versus an average joe that owns a panerai and can tell the shape of the actual watch is different...

On another note the 190 is starting to grow on me. How come it is not as popular here? Also how innacurate is it to the rep, and how is this auto asian movement on it? Can you tell the second hand doesnt move as smooth or is it louder etc... Thanks guys. BTW Im not planning to get it any time soon, perhaps in a couple of months for new years or something assuming there is a newer more accurate version out.

Oh wow that looks pretty accurate to me. I could have sworn I saw a bunc of threads on here even where people went to the AD to look at the real thing and said they noticed right away it was quite different. Does this also apply to the 190 since it doesnt have a clear bezel so you cant see the movement.

Yeah.. one of those posts was mine. The gen's case (pillow as most call it) is much more squared. I had
my rep 183 on me and went to Shreve (PAM AD) and I was a bit disappointed. It's still a beautiful watch
that would fool 99% of normal people. It looks stunning with BOB's Vertigo collection bands.

That link shows the older G series, the newer H series is even better, especially with the pin fix. That version looked terrible from the back (wrong bridges, no swan neck), but H is much more accurate from the back....but you could always go with a vintage model. Much less likely someone has seen one to compare it to and call you out on.

thanks. I thought the Radiomirs did not have te swan neck only the luminors. Also what do you guys think? The radiomir is def more dressy right because is thinner and will go under the cuffs of a shirt easier correct?
Plus how about the 8days 190, any opinions. I am surprised the automatics arent more popular.

yeah... the rad's are thinner, or at least look that way. can be much more dreassier than my luminor in my opinon. My luminor sticks out of my jacket, but i like that cuz i can flash everyone with my big gigantor watch HAHA!

so any1 have a clue when there will be a newer generation of the radiomirs? Im not sure how long this one has been out, or what the track record with reps usually is since I am fairly new.
Also howcome the PAM 190 isnt popular at all? Its an automatic which I think should be more popular than the manual wind. Is there something wrong with that Asian moviement or something?

i think panerais are popular because of its larger size and manual wind movement. That's why there's a ton of those reps. That's also why i dont see many 40 mm auto pannies :(

supply and demand i guess.
