So how big is the U-42 actually?

Hey Guys,

For quite some time now I am looking to get a U-Boat and there are like several types I like so I am thinking to start getting them slowly one-by-one.

First I would go for the U-42, and the ones I found are the 53mm versions. I have seen many pictures of them (on wirsts as well) but I still can't really decide if they are way too big (for me) or not. I have seen the pics of Mirage wearing it and I have a somewhat bigger then 7.5 inch wirst but I am still in doubt about the hugeness of this thing.

I could really appreciate some feedback on what you think about these monsters.

Thanks!

It really comes down too you and if you think big face watches suit you. I say go for it, order it and then see what you think?

IMHO i think you will love it !!

Maybe a silly question:
The 53 diameter refers to the diameter of the case or to the diameter of the dial?
Just asking because I have seen the dimensions stated on a drawing where it puts it to 63mm (although I know the initial plans of the U-1942 and it was somewhere around 65mm)

It wears pretty big, people will notice big time, but if you are comfortable with a 46- 50 mm it will not be a huge step. As you already know I have a 7.5 inch wrist and I think this watch is fine on my wrist. Thickness if not to be neglected.

I saw, in some italian forums, second hand GEN uboat watches sold at 350-400€...in this case, what's the sense to buy a replica?

Head bender I too just ordered a uboat from time shop, did you get yours yet?which model and color did you order? I accidentally ordered the wrong one and I've emailed both emails I've found to hopefully just order the correct one, nothing has been shipped according to their website, it's just been accepted in the payment, for some reason on the 1001 limited edition on page 2 they have a black one with rosé gold rim on it, it was late at night and I liked the color, however I notice it must be a color combo that time shop invented, because I can't find a real version like that, so I want the titanium a look on page 1 with the blue trim, hopefully this works out, I'm super nervous because I've never ordered anything from china...I want to order a GMTII also, and a a lady's Rolex, where would you guys order those? What's with the noob factory? Brannon

I've never had interest in these watches, until I saw your pictures. That is a very nice watch.

I had an adventure there with TimeShop.
So on the website the U-42 was available. I have pulled the trigger asked them if indeed available. They said yes.
I got the QC picture, but the one I wanted was "unavailable" the color of the dial and hands were different on the QC pictures. I have told them that this is not what I would like so I have sent them another version of the U-42 as a possibility. 1 day later I get QC pictures of a totally different watch....
After some E-mails and wierd communication turns out that is also unavailable.
This was the point I told them to get me the refund and lets forget this whole case.

Not to mention that they have something going on with their E-mails. The automatic reply address points to an old address, so everytime you have to manually reply to: [FONT=&#23435][email protected][FONT=&#23435]

so your telling me Timeshop is not very ez to deal with? I emailed yesterday asking if I could change to a different color, but that may screw up the whole thing, emails are pretty simple in the real world....

So...finally it arrived today. (@Toro thank you once again)
It is awsome, huge as expected, but I could underestimate the thickness - even as I was expecting it to be THICK :)

Now comes the hassle with Timeshop for the refund. For 1 month now and no money back....

Now be prepared to see the (WTF is that thing) look on people's face! Some will be shy to ask and others wont be able to contain their reaction. Hand them the watch and see their jaw dropping further more when they realize how much it weights!
