Sketchy PAM on the fleaBay

I occasionally browse the 'bay to see whats out there and I came across this: http://r.ebay.com/Wf3Wvi


I'm no PAM expert by any means but this looks really sketch. There should be an immediate flag on eBay anytime anyone describes their item as "without boxes from an estate sale". Those damn dead guys never save their boxes. He says it's a "PAM 90" with a different swiss movement? Well it has an open caseback and the dial looks weird with the silver power reserve and the seconds. It's also beat to shit, looks at the marks on the lugs beside the screw holes.

Definitely a rep. And not a good one.

Well there is such a thing as a Panerai with white subdial and white PR indicator: PAM 196

But this model you have found on ebay was most certainly a rep and a bad one to boot. It is however most likely a 23 Jewel seagull movement with fully functioning PR. same movement that goes into the PAM090 models that we have (with functioning PR)

Ohhh OK thanks, yeah I knew that there probably was one but a few quick cursory glances through ALE's PAM guide and I didn't immediately see one. I knew it wasn’t an 090 though.

It has the familiar E208P/2000 rep serial number. Listed by a pawn shop that either isn't aware, or doesn't care, or both.
