I was talking to my SA at Panerai. They are discontinuing the 42mm Luminor and moving that size to the Luminor Due. I'm finding it a bit strange and pretty dramatic. So hopefully it's wrong. 42mm fits my smaller wrist well. But I prefer the thickness, brushed case and case shape of the Luminor.

As explained to me, moving forward the lineup will be:

Luminor: 40mm, 44mm, 47mm

Luminor Due: 38mm, 42mm

It might sound odd but it actually make some sense. For both lines, they want a big and a small size.

For Due, small is 38 and big is 42.
For Luminor, small is 40 and big is 44+

But i don’t know what are they going to do with the current 42 luminor models, I mean they are still selling (1392, 1394 etc). The whole scheme is already bust from inception.

Thank you for telling us. Interesting. Will Luminor due 45mm go away this way too?

I wonder how the 40mm luminor 1950 will be implemented to maintain an adequate proportion of diameter and thickness.

And of course, I wonder if the PAM1394 will see the light of day, taking into account all these transformations, since a white 40mm dial is planned as well.

Well .. We'll see...

Good questions! I did not ask specifically about the 45mm Luminor, so I'm not sure.

The sales rep said they were getting in a 40mm white dial Luminor, but didn't give me much details. It seemed like they were referring to a smaller version of the 1314, implying the 1394 would not see the light of day. You know I'm interested as I just picked up the VSF 1394 ;-)

They were also very excited about a white dial sub! I think a 42mm. I don't have much more details, but that's not for this thread.
