Sinn U1 2813 second hand stutter? still an issue?

I'm thinking of picking up a Sinn U1 rep with the 2813 movement from one of the TDs on this site. I've read about the second hand issue but most of those posts are from last year or older. I'm wondering if everyone of these reps has this issue or just some? Or if this issue has been fixed by the manufacturers. Can anyone that has recently picked up a U1 comment.

I don't see how the problem could have magically fixed itself. I did the same research you did and that's why I ended up ordering a U1 w/ 2836 movement from Silix last week. I plan on getting it lumed and putting a gen bracelet on it, so there was no way I wanted to chance seeing that horrible stuttering or even worse, have someone else see it. I don't know what your budget is, but you can can get one shipped for $244.

Also, I just had a $120 noobmariner die after 6 weeks, so I'm done with 21j movements anyway.

I'm have been lurking around U1,U2 info and member sales for a while, always seem to miss out on all the Sinns. Love to see some pics of your U1 and hear any feedback on your dealings with Silix etc. Do you have any others Sinns? Enjoy your U1.

After more research I too think I'm going to go for the swiss movement, I spoke to silex and Michelle said if I want pics of the movement that would not be a problem....Now I have to decide on the U1 or U2....My wife likes the U2 and I kinda like the U1..decisions decisions

I had the same problem deciding between the U1 and U2 but it came down to:

• The U1 has a very classic, clean look
• The U1 can be modded to look near gen. The current versions of the U2 have an issue with the 6 hand dot/minute markers. No matter what you do, it can't be made as close to gen as the U1.

Valid points! Did you look at the UX Hydro at all? Just saw one, seems like a cross between the U1 and 2..

I definitely considered the UX but in the end I thought the U1 was the best/cheapest route to get and make one near gen.

Yes, keep in mind that the gen UX is pretty special. The whole watch has been filled with special silicone oil to keep water out in extreme pressures, also the gen houses a quartz movement because of the oil. Furthermore, the caseback has a moveable piston to conpensate temperature changes to the oil. Its really a nice watch that can be found for around $1000 used, i doubt that there will ever be a close rep to this.

Caseback is horrible, but other then that there are no tells as far as I know.

So a rep with Gen bracelet and added lume is about 1/2 the price of a good used genuine U1. I don't quite see the point, not enough price diff IMO.
