Hi dave,

I haven't bought anything from 2nd hand watch shops here in Singapore, I remember there's a big shop at Peninsula Plaza shopping centre at the ground level that has a huge collection of pre-owned watch, here's the address. This shopping mall is just 5mins walk from City Hall MRT station, and just in front of the famous Funan IT mall.

I was in Singapore in November, and spent half a day going to second-hand watch stores recommended by locals--including several RWI members. By far, the best visit was at Heirloom Gallery (near Clarke Quay), which had an amazing selection of vintage Omegas, among other brands. Other highlights were Visiotime at Raffles Place, and Passions at Funan Digitalife Mall. If you're looking for old Rolexes, try Top Hour on the ground floor of Lucky Plaza. If you're more interested in Panerais, make sure you stop by Hobby Link (it's an RC store, but the watches are on display at the counter) at Far East Plaza.

All of these places are easily Googled, if you need the addresses.

Be very careful with pre-owned right not in Singapore. A buddy of mine that lives there said there has been a rash of frankens that have shown up in recent months. I would be very careful purchasing vintage Rolex there now. I know there are some great dealers there, but with some of the NDTrading kinds of cases anything is possible. ...and don't reply on papers on them either as cases can be engraved to any serial number...just be careful!

...but do enjoy the country...a great place!

I am not sure if Timeman has a shopfront or not but this guy is on the up and up. He's an Aussie and lives not 40 miles from me altho his biz is based out of Singapore. Link: http://www.timeman.net/index.asp

Well there is this shop that is quiet reputable ... Passions ...
They even have a website ... They are located near cityhall mrt at Funan IT mall ...
Here is their webbie ... You can see their webbie for the watches they have and go there for viewing ... As a local I went there once and had good service from their sales person who is friendly ...

I am a Singaporean and have been buying 2nd hand watches from dealers quite regularly. The dealers I have bought from are :

i) JWWatch - located below Great Eastern building near Raffles Place. Their watches are often top quality but the owner is pretty sticky about prices. Prices are not the lowest and non bargainable. Not even the GST, but this should not be an issue with tourist. (http://www.jwwatch.com/)

ii) Hobbylink - located at Far East Shopping Center. Owner Sam is easygoing but is not a certified horology technician, unlike John from JW. Sam's prices are negotiable since they are mostly consignment pieces. Sam's main business is in remote control cars so his watch is stored in a simple and non attractive display. I was pretty surprised that his simple cupboard has so many expensive watches. Pretty suspicious initially, but after one deal, I am convinced. Note that his watches are often in original condition.

iii) Koh Watches - located at level 2 People's Park Centre. This shop is my personal favourite for 2nd hand Rolex. Prices are good and service is friendly. This is a family run business with another shop named AK located in the same floor. They only deal in Rolex, but their pieces are mostly without box and paper. Although I prefer them because of price, I would buy from JW if the prices are the same. No website. Aunty owner mentioned that business is too good, so no need for website. Since no website, do go there if you have a particular model in mind. Also do some research about the price and series before hand.

iv) Bronze Age - located at level 2 Chinatown Point, which is across People's Park linked by an overhead bridge. Owner is quite reserve but he wil give good discount off the published price if paying by cash. (http://www.ebronzeage.com/)

The other shops have been mentioned by fellow repgeeks e.g. Passions, Visio time and Top Hour. Personally, I did not buy from them mainly because their service is lousy despite non attractive prices. Just my view, maybe they treat their regulars better. Anyway, many options around so normally I will not waste my time with people who are not interested in my hard earned $$.
