Should I sell my KW 312 for the VSF?

Hi guys,

I have a KW V2 312 which I bought in 2015 and hardly wore it. I wanted your opinion if I should sell it for the new VSF 312? I never compromise on the quality of the rep and always try to buy the best there is (ofc ourse closest to the Gen).

SO should I sell it or keep it?

If I am not wrong, KW and VSF are the same maker. V6F/KW/VSF. They are all the same maker but different sub-brands to focus on different brands. VSF will be primarily focussed on Panerai.

I don't think so...KW and V6F are the same and there was s thread about KW changing its name to XF this year but I doubt VSF is the same maker (I may be wrong)

I don't know how they compare because I haven't owned both but I do know that the VSF312 I bought recently is an amazing Rep

I think you are absolutely right. VSF n KW are different

Technically you are both correct and incorrect. KW changed their name to V6F, which then later formed two sub-factories, VSF and XF. VSF is still essentially part of the original KW factory (hence incorrect) yet it has evolved its products beyond the original factory's releases (hence correct).

Should you upgrade from the KW to VSF PAM312? If you want the best version, absolutely, but if you are happy with the KW then don't upgrade as the only change is the location of the balance wheel.

Thanks very much for the clarification.
What about the dial and the crystal? Is there much difference and the overall feel of the case?

In addition to the movement, the VSF version of the 312 also corrected the inscription colour on dial which was too brown on the KW version.

Case and crystal, I don't expect much difference, if any.

So basically in other words... SELL THE KW, which is an awesome watch btw, and get the VSF! If mysterio says it then it must be true!!

Oh btw on another note I just saw the iwc Le petit prince chrono.. blue dial .. .that awesome!

Like I said, if you're perfectly happy with your KW, then by all means keep it. On the other hand, if you want the absolute best replica of the PAM312 as of the moment, then the VSF is the way to go. As long as you're happy, either route is fine. ;)

Thanks mysterio ...I am happy until a newer version comes out with less flaws! Can I ask will the VSF take Gen dial and Xtal?

Im no Panerai expert, I have the VSF 312 and its a great piece except for the slow date change. I think the KW version only has the balance wheel at 6 where the VSF is at 7 and have better deco, I don't think thats really an issue since its not visible on the wrist.

According to some TDs it accepts gen parts, not too sure. Doubt anyone tried fitting gen parts on a 312.

Not quite.
V6F never wanted to be called KW. Kuvarsit was a partner of V6F for some time, he wanted to make it look like he himself produced the watches and made up the "KW". V6F was never happy with that.
The plan was then to change the name once more, VSF for Panerai-Reps and XF for the rest... seems it dind'n work out though...
Anyway, it's all the same.

I will reword my statement. The factory that was used to be known as KW (whether V6 wanted to or not is immaterial from customer POV) changed its name to V6F (even though technically that was the actual/original factory name, again immaterial from customer POV) after severing ties with their partner Kuvarsit. VSF is a subfactory of the V6 factory that was once known as KW (hence incorrect) yet it has evolved its products beyond what was released under the KW factory name (hence correct). :)

If one is such a self proclaimed stickler for accuracy then saving up and buying the actual watch will serve you rather well.

Uhmmmm.... yap :lamo2:
The maker that didn't want to be called KW named himself V6F (or others did that for him...
:wtf:
It's all quite confusing if you ask me :plugintree:
