So I got my first PAM a few weeks ago... It's already modded, will post pics soon, pretty good looking. It seems to me to be a "standard" 111h, w/ asian movement (but visually very accurate as far as I can tell albeit a small smudge on the movement). It's got the high canon pin fix, lume like a torch, flush crown guard pin. Some flaws: the crystal is probably too blue, and the crown guard cutout is not SHARP as it should be. it's almost rounded, and inaccurate. But the biggest problem? And the problem that no one seems to have figured out? The dial! I saw a watch get sold on the member sales forum for like $500 and it had the same dial: the L swiss L is too wide. Is there a dial out there that really fixes this? Even the DSN dial has flaws, even if it kind of fixes the L swiss L. As far as I can see, that and the sharp edges are the two biggest flaws that make this rep simply inaccurate. When you've got the panirazzi's running around, I'm almost afraid to wear it for fear of running into their gustapo. But otherwise, it's an awesome watch, I just don't understand how people can say their PAM 111hs are modded to near perfection when their dial is clearly f'd up.

Yes - crack would have been cheaper over the long run and takes up less space!!! But probably not nearly as fun!!!!

hey....you bought a rep.

those are damn close to the gen's......and cost about 7-10%

sure they have some flaws.....could you tell from 6 feet away ? no you cant.

i have seen gen Panerai's with flaws....depending on when they were made....

So is this the reason some of you actually super mod your Pam's? It seems silly but the last thing I would worry about is what an elite group of watch owners thought. Just wear it for what it is, asian movement and all.

I was on a Bond forum where they were talking about clothing. Somrthing about a brand. Someone actually said that if the guy wore something he would 'get called out'. I'm sitting here thinking maybe his face would be more of a tell but what do I know?

I know I bought a rep, but I've got several others that are, in my opinion, much closer to gen and cheaper. My breit SFSO is fricken impossible to tell as fake other than perhaps the unevenness of the lume dots which can only be seen on super close inspection. My UPO has gen hands and on a strap instead of band I think is pretty damn close (although I suppose the AR isn't quite up to snuff). My original HBB w/ rg bezel is damn close unless you look at it from the back or you know about the recessed date wheel or you know that the rg bezel model w/ clear back is technically a fantasy model. Either way, it's pretty accurate. My Breitling skyland v2 is pretty close except for the lume dots. Either way, the fully modded PAM I've got, the kind of watch that guys on this forum spend so much time on in these forums, simply is not up to snuff when it comes to many out of the box reps i've seen. The whole "you bought a rep" argument doesn't cut it here. And it's not that I'm mad, I really like it, I'm wearing it right now, but I do have to say, "This is the best we've got for these very popular models?" But yeah, admittedly part of the fun for me is seeing how close I can get to the real deal, within reason. HBB, the rotor on the back or the recessed dw doesn't really bother me. But the PAM 111h? The flaws are a bit more noticible I think. Maybe I'm just OCD, who knows...

There are no good dials for L swiss made L yet. THe little hero and dsn dials are not perfect either... but if you want perfection, get a gen!
