Hi All. I just recently picked up my first Panerai (Radiomir) off of RWI recently (budget tier just to see how I like) and when looking to switch out the strap, I could see that the majority of the set screws were pretty gummed up, making it difficult to unscrew / screw back into place. Worse yet, I made the mistake (in my opinion) of fully taking out the set screws instead of just loosening them enough to pull out the bars, only to then find it pretty difficult, even with a pair of tweezers, to get the screws back into place.

At any rate, as fate would have it, one of the screws sprung out of my tweezers and flew somewhere across the room, never to be found again / sacrificed to the Panerai gods for the rest of eternity.

To this end, I'm trying to figure out, if possible, the size of these screws in order to replace, w/o having to purchase an entire replacement bar set with screws (found one on eBay for about $30). I'm hoping / assuming I can't be the only one that this has ever happened to, but if so, accept the (dis)honor of having set a new precedent :ROFLMAO: .

Any insight is appreciated.

You could contact Ewatchparts to ask if they will sell screws individually (which I doubt) but I would recommend buying a set of 4 as they WILL come in handy at some point.

Also - I always use 'sticky tack' putty when replacing any small screws into my watches. By sticking to the screw head it allows you to place the screw and also get the first turn without fear of loosing grip.

Thanks for the reference and tips. Duly noted.

Follow up on a semi-related question. Do you have any recommendations for polishing out / removing the "battle scars" I inherited on the back of the watch case likely caused by slipping screwdrivers? I've read a lot about 'cape cod' wipes, but not sure they would provide enough "oompf" for the level of scratches present.
