Do they have the same stem height, are they the same diameter, the same height ? If not you're wasting your time.

How so? The watch Im looking to buy is advertised in two different movements, so I'm looking to find out which option is best. The seiko is 12mm and the eta is 11mm in height.

Sorry, thought you were going to start swapping out movements etc . . .

The ETA can probably be found, used, for about $50 - $60, less if you know where to look. So yes it may well be a genuine Swiss ETA in the watch, but unlikely to be new, or even serviced. The Seiko will however be clean, regulated and will easily last you 15 years, if not more.

Thanks for this. So with that being said, there is no point going for the ETA?
I'm assuming the seiko is a high beat auto that will stop and start again when work again. Says 28800bp

'Worth it or not' - that's your decision - the ETA is a superior movement, but it will undoubtedly be used & will need a service. The Seiko is new, clean, serviced - you choose what you need.

considering they are the same price, I will probably opt for the Seiko then!
Now just need to find out if anyone knows if the quality differs between the 33mm and the 38mm (finish/strap)!!

Thanks again

I had a NH05A, after one bikeride it was fucked due to vibrations. Still worked, but accuracy was way off compared to before. (7 minutes behind after 24h). I'm sure it's a tank of a movement, but that turned me off..

It says 28,800 ? Is that low? And what’s the difference/problem with getting low or hi beat please?

You really should utilize the search (fn) as questions like "what is a high/low beat movement" have been asked many times.....

I dug around a little as both of those movements are unfamiliar to me. I didn't find much quickly so if you want more you'll have to do some research on your own.

Seiko movement is same family as 7s26 & 4R35/36 so it is low beat for sure @ 21,600 bph.

High beat is generally regarded as 28,800bph or higher and is generally a nicer/more expensive movement. With that said, just because it is a higher beat movement does not mean it is any more reliable.

Lots of movements out there with lots of different qualities.... one of those qualities is bph which stands for beats per hour.
6 beats/second= 21,600 beats/ hour (low beat)
8 beats/second= 28,800 beats/ hour (high beat)

One is not good and the other bad, they are just different. High beat movements are more expensive and they produce a smoother sweep on the second hand.

Hmm, I'd be surprised if this is actually in-stock. I tried to purchase a few years ago and was told they were out of production. Of course, to be 100% clear, I asked if it was in stock, was told yes, then I placed my order and paid, and only then was told it was out of production. That's the normal course for these sorts of things......dealers almost always say a watch is in stock.

Two other quick thoughts -- if you're buying this for a lady, most of them prefer quartz to auto....even the CEO if Cartier says this. Likewise, the gen is more typically found in quartz, not auto, so its a not a model where it would be weird to see a quartz tick.
