Searching for best 44mm automatic Pam....

Hi guys.

Panerai has been off the radar for me for a while now as I got into ap but looking at my collection I still have a lot of love for the brand. However most of my pams are wind up movements and I just prefer autos

Of all the recent releases over the last couple of years what would the general opinion be of the best automatic replica? I don't mind what model, what case finish, what strap etc, I'm just looking for the closest to gen replicas of any automatic models. Is there a super rep out there?

From my searching I'm currently at the 312 vsf but is there better or equivalents to consider?

https://www.intime01.co/panerai/340...t-edition-on-black-leather-strap-vsp9000.html

Also what's the status with the Pam bracelets? I'm struggling to find one for sale on a good rep... if there's s good bracelet model then I'll buy both

Cheers

The vsf 312 is absolutely stunning, in terms of 1:1 the vsf 441 v2 will be just a bit better because the hands and date function like the gen (only the powerreserve dont function and the secondhand does not reset to zero) and the look of the v2 movement is just a bit increased over the v1

I would suggest reading the Reference Guide (see link in my signature). Just press CTRL+F and look for super rep. There are more than one automatic super rep model, but the PAM312 isn't one of them. Or search for the NWBIGs list in the General Watch Discussion section.

Thanks for the pointer, that is such a good thread.....
It looks like most of the auto super reps are no longer available with the tds though
I'd really like to get a 356 so I might put a wanted out on m2m. The 508 is available from
The looks of it so I may get this instead of the 1389 we were chatting about on the other thread..... I'll do some comparisons and see what I prefer the look of
Thanks again for all your help[emoji4]

Pam 297 and 299 are also exceptional pieces. Some dealers may still stock them but if now M2M is always a good place to keep an eye for.

How about the Pam 104? I have the gen so cannot comment on the rep but I think it’s supposed to be good

I'm not a fan of the 297, the face is a bit busy for a non chrono Pam for my tastes but of the super rep list the 299 is closest to the 312 I originally posted about. This is definitely one to consider

It's not only supposed to be good but it's a super rep. ;) Basically it's like a polished PAM299 without the bracelet.

Personally, I'd recommend you consider a Panerai which the gen and rep uses a 7750. This gives you options for repair if the movement needs service vs the super clone movement like the p9000 which doesn't have spare parts available. The caliber movements you would want are OP III, or OP VIII (GMT) when researching models. My 088 is very stunning visually and functions as per gen. This is one I'd suggest you consider...

299 and 104 are both models I'd consider (especially 299 as I prefer brushed ss) but tds have no 299 and only 104 from factories other than what's recommended in the super rep list. The point of moving away from the 312 which I prefer the look of would be to get the right super rep.
I'm guessing most models on the super rep list have long been sold out...... do the factories keep manufacturing some models and they are just currently out of stock or do they move forward producing different and newer reps instead?

They make batches, some are limited runs like the LMPO and CrPO and others are large on going runs with multiple versions or batches like the Pam 111 and subc.

Another option is to watch M2M sales for the models you are looking for and place a WTB ad.

Maybe I'm going mad but on the 312 when does the second hand reset to zero on the gen? There's no reset buttons on the watch so I'm confused.....

And when you say no power reserve it just doesn't store power for as long as he gen?

I believe he's referring to the power reserve indicator. Some Panerai have this on the dial, some on the backside on the movement. In this case I believe this model has the reserve indicator on the movement and the rep is non functional.

312 doesn’t have power reserve indicator. The seconds hand resets to zero when you’re setting the time(I believe). The vsf 312, which I have, is an amazing rep and in my opinion I think vsf makes the best Pam reps hands down. If you’re on the ropes about the vsf 312 get off them and buy one! Seriously it’s a great watch and I think has lost around 2 seconds in 4 weeks or something.. crazy. I want to pick up a gen dial and hands but I don’t think I’ll ever be able
To find them sadly. There’s also multiple vsf 312 analysis threads if you dig in the Panerai forum. Good luck!

Are you absolutely sure on this? I just watched a video on YouTube and at about 2.20 he resets time and the second hand doesn't move at all

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-6KamJwgCR0

The only thing different I can see on the gen would be you can set the hour hand seperately. I'm guessing the rep doesn't do this

I may be incorrect I'm not sure, I don't claim to know but I'm just trying to learn more.....

The P.9000 only features a hacking seconds hand, meaning the hand stops when you pull out the crown to adjust the time. That was updated with the P.9001, with a zero reset when you adjust the time. Both functions allow for setting the time exactly to a reference, something like an atomic clock (only for the P.9000 you would have to wait for the exact seconds before pushing in the crown, for the P.9001, you would have to wait for the seconds on the reference to be at zero).

watch at 0.33 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tW4nbz_0IzM

its P9001 when the balance wheel stops it turns to zero (crown completely pulled out and it will reset immediately)
