So since this is the first thing you have posted in 3 years I'll assume the account has been hacked if I don't hear back very soon.
I’m probably completely clueless, but what do the hackers hope to achieve by posting such messages? Are they hoping people are naive enough to contact them via PM so they can continue the scam from there?
It's an ocean. Scammers just throw the hook and wait. Sometimes it works. There are so many solitary men around here. In every forum. Sadly, they occasionaly take it.

It's like them guys on eBay trying to sell a new King Charles £20 note for £30,000.00
95% of the pleasure they get is from thoughts that their ridiculous scam will work and then dreaming of how they'll spend the proceedings, making it a win-win for the scammer.
