Ok, I have been reading tons of info here(quite impressed with vast knowledge), and narrowed to some fine choices.

Now, on certain watches with Seagull ST2555( Non-Inverted), the PAM source guide took me to vendor with movement which says ASIAN 23J.

Are they both the same just been called/named differently?

TIA

The Seagull ST2555 is a Chinese movement with 23 jewels. I believe it is an "in-house" movement from Seagull that is not a clone or copy of any other movements. There are other Chinese made 23 jewel movements that are copies of miyota movements. In short, all Seagull ST2555 are A23J movements, but not all A23J movements are Seagull ST2555. You should familiarize yourself with the basic layout of the ST2555 and compare it to movement pictures posted by dealers.

Although the ST2555 seems to have a pretty good reputation for reliability, my experience haven't been so great. Chalk up to luck perhaps, but I have had two of them in different watches and both had lousy power reserves and I have broken 3 stems already (and I am very gentle with my watches). In the future, if i have a choice between the ST2555 version or an A7750 version, I'll take the A7750 even if it costs a little more money.

For me it is the opposite. If I had a choice between Seagull and A7750, I'm going with Seagull..The A7750 is like 50% / 50% to me and those are not good enough odds for me. Unless you can mod and do your own work on watches, then probably you go for the A7750. Too many things can go boom on A7750 IMO.

I've both of and for my experience they are good movements, excluding for the well-known problems of @9 seconds for 7750

I have always preferred the 7750 over 2555. Factually speaking, there are more potential issues with the 2555 as there are move moving parts from barrel to balance, specifically within the seconds hand area... which is what causes the known stutter.

When talking about a full chrono 7750, there might be more issues, but from the ones Ive worked with, they are still fairly well build. Given how small the tolerance is, even Chinese parts would need to be made pretty exact or the movement wouldnt work at all.

Personally, Ive never had an issue with a 7750, but if it came down to it, I would prefer a serviced 7750 over an OEM 2555. Which will cost the same considering the seagull movement is $50-60 shipped.

I think the KW models all run on the ST2555. My 388 KW with ST2555 is still running extremely well, with great power reserve and very precise, for almost a year now. No issues whatsoever.

I also own a 388 by KW with Seagull movement as well as a 438 by V6F with ST2555.
Both watches run great, keep accurate time and have nice power reserves.
