Hi,

This post is mostly to warn Ebay noobs as me if they start selling items on Ebay so they don't make the same mistake.

I have used Ebay for buying stuff for a long time but recently I came across some vintage watch bracelets that I start selling there to. I had a post earlier about a bad buyer and asked for advice on RWI i got many informative replies. Very much appreciated!

Well I used the Ebay listing tool to make a template for the first auction cause I would sell many of the same item.

I sold 1 item (bracelet) every 5th day for a period for an average of $80. To save time I then started a buy now listing with the same template for listing 5 pcs each time with the price set to $80. They sold quickly!

But now here is where I'm scamed myself or acted really stupid!!!

For the last 5 bracelets I had left, I were going back to online auction with a 5 day listing period and starting bid $0.99 to attract more buyers and maybe to get more than the average of $80 each.

5 minutes after the listing started I got a mail.

Congratulations your items sold.

The listing template had overwrite online auction with buy now instead. 5 pcs available and for $0.99 each.

The buyer of course bought 5 pcs for total of $4.95 when the bracelets is worth about $400...

Well I feel both stupid and raped by Ebay's stupid listing tool... :frusty:

You dont have to honor that really, no reason to take a hit like that, go back and log in on a pc and there is a section in there to state listing in error or item is not available or something. That is ridiculous.

Yah man. Don't send those out. Companies do it all the time and don't honor the request. I bought some items from Best Buy and a ridiculous price and waited for confirmation. 2 days later they said the item wasn't available anymore. Contact ebay and get things fixed. Refund the buyers money as well.

Full refund is done and "cancel the transaction" case is opened on Ebay.
The buyer did not reply on my mails and the Ebay support did not reply either. So now Im waiting for the negative feedback...

And now I got the negative feedback, the buyer was a total A-hole could not accept that there was a error in the listing. And i give nothing to their so called seller protection!

As a seller on Ebay if I get it right you cant leave negative feedback the selling fees are ridiculous they even take commission on the shipping fees. After that Paypal take their 4%... So it feels like you get robbed on every sale.

The Ebay support do not even bother to reply questions or give advice in situations like this... Last month I paid $90 in fees to them maybe they should offer some support specially to "relative new" users.

Thanks a lot RWI people for your support and good advises!

I guess this is now for others who might read the posts this far - the following is by far, the best way to deal with anything ebay-paypal related IMHO (1300+ transactions since 1999)

1. Don't bother emailing eBay - call them or do the live chat thing. They should clearly see the error and cancel the transaction.

2. Let the buyer know that it happened in error, refer them to your feedback and previous sales and they will no doubt see that is is an error also - do all correspondence through eBay's message system where it will be clear if the buyer attempts to force the issue - then you can explain that while there was an error, that you will be relisting them soon with the correct sale conditions blah blah blah - you may want to offer them one at a reduced price as a goodwill gesture but I wouldn't offer anything until things get clarified
