What do you guys think of this? Clearly a post with stolen pictures right? They’ve already sold one vintage Sub yesterday and an Omega Speedmaster. No reviews yet

Yep, There's a reason the price is too good to be true...it's a scam. The seller is knowledgeable about watches. Why wouldn't they be knowledgeable about how much they are worth? I see the same thing on ebay. Very detailed description of the watch and a buy it now price at 10% of it's true value. Makes no sense they would know it has a MK3 dial and not know it's value. Ebay takes it down quickly. I've seen the same watch get listed and taken down 3 times

I figured it was too good to be true. I was looking for a way to report it but it seems It’s not as straight forward on Etsy as it is on EBay. Thanks for the response!

Major scam. When shopping for gen watches if the Internet deal seems too good it is ALWAYS a scam.

I bet if you did a Google Image search you will find those photos have been lifted from a gen watch sale site. These guys are typically lazy. They will just cut and paste pictures of a watch for sale (or that was previously sold) on a legit site.

Crazy the lengths people will go to scam others. Great to know what to look out for though, I appreciate your guidance!

Yes you do! The first watch I saw from the ebay scammer was a early 60's Rolex 5513 pointed crown guard with a gilt dial and a buy it now price of $2500. But to buy it, you were directed away from ebay and to a different web site. My heart was pounding! Hurry up and buy it! Then I clicked on sellers other auctions and saw over 100 top end watches at a fraction of their worth. That's when I knew it was a scam. How could he have so many high end watches with detailed descriptions and not know what they are worth? He must be getting some people sending him money, because he keeps putting up the auctions. He also hijacks reputable seller's accounts to list his scam auctions.

Yes exactly my feeling, excitement and then disappointment. I did send a message first to try to get more pictures and after a few hours I checked back and someone had bought the watch. Feel bad for the two people who did end up purchasing the Sub and the other Omega they were “selling” but had I to post it here to hear others opinions and also try to learn what to really look out for. Appreciate your input on this!

I was talking about this with someone that was interested in a watch that was way under priced. He thought it was a scam. The seller was communicating with him until he asked the seller to set the watch to a specific time and date and send him a picture of it. Then the seller stopped responding to him.

You do feel disappointment! Your brain still thinks "Damn, that was almost mine!" My brain was already going through how I was going to explain a 5513 gilt dial submariner to the Mrs. Whew, good thing I didn't have to explain how I got taken for $2500

I guess you can never be too careful when shopping around on the grey market and if it’s too good to be true it’s most likely a scam.

I’m sure glad you were able to save that $2500. Would have been a long time in the dog house for that one ????
