Sandwich Vs Sausage lume

Hi, always like to hear peoples experiences with their rep Pams! I treat mine as if they were gen, always being careful with them

I wondered about the longevity of the lume (more like how is the lume after years, still strong?) specifically sausage dials Vs sandwich, I get the sandwich is usually more luminous due to more physical paint but how has the lume held up with your Pams? I am thinking over the course of years

On a slightly different note, most TD sites say it’s superluminova, I’m correct in thinking this is not the case? Anyone know what lume is actually put on the reps?

thanks!

Hello!

Luminova should not glow worse over the years, at least not on a reasonable scale. I have 10+ year old reps and they all shine just as good as they used to.

The strength of the reps glow can vary depending on the specific pam and the specific factory, but for the most part, especially in the case of modern models, it will not differ significantly in intensity from gen, and sometimes in duration.

The strength and duration of the glow of a sandwich and sausage is similar, but models of the same time, one factory, although, theoretically, a properly made sausage has a better potential, due to a larger amount of light mass (when it fills the chasing, and not drawn on the plane).

Of course, the luminova that is used in reps will not be 100% the same as that used for gen panerai, but what the factories give is enough. Anyone who had, for example, an old HF sausage/sandwich on the 6497 model will easily confirm this for you.

Thank you KOT, I have been lucky to acquire some HF Pams but they have all been sandwich dials, do not have much experience with sausage dials

I would like to say that my HF PAM026 had the strongest lume of any reps I have ever had. Yes, there is a possibility that it loses brightness faster than gen, but the overall duration of the glow will again be literally the same as that of gen.

PAM005 HF with sausage, I would conditionally call it a little weaker, but not significantly, PAM056, which has thinner indices, and not deepened ones - similarly, PAM089, which has a lume drawn on a plane, is a little weaker. (All HF watches)

Other factories may slightly differ, but this is all very subjective and depends on the specific model: for example, PAM127 ZF had a very strong glow, while PAN382 ZF did not show anything special.

The DSN models are usually slightly weaker, but this is also because most of them are much older, and also because on many models they mimic tritium, whose glow is noticeably weaker.

In general, I would say that the rep lume of modern top-end rep pam is always good, and it is impossible to distinguish it from gen randomly.
