Sandwich Dial with Closed Case Back?

Does anyone know of a model that has a sandwich dial (great for perfect lume jobs) and a closed case back? I was thinking this would be almost impossible to get called out on even if you let a paneristi look at your watch. Of course this assumes a cannon pin fix and a decent crown.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

There is the 5218-201A. I didn't know what that was until I researched the model. I'm also quite certain that most of the dealers could place a solid back on any of the sandwich dial PAMs.

Open case back is really cool though and the newest movement with the swan neck, CDG, and the dagger are so close it's scary.

Good advice. I'll check out the 5218 201A in more detail. Seems like Davidsen is the man for these. They are pretty vintage looking. Anyone know any others that are newer models?

I agree that the new movements are close but I was in fact called out on my 217 after a 2 second inspection of the movement so there are definitely still flaws, I guess mostly in the finish.

Thanks guys.

Guys,
201/A doesn't come with sandwich dial, it's rather recessed with a fill-in lume.

Davidsen's 201/A 2nd generation (the one before the last) is a good example of replicating genuine 201/A dial.

cheers,
babola

I noticed that when I was doing a little more research into the 201A. I also noticed that looking at Davidsen's latest 201A it seemed that the 6 was not the correct shape.

Babola do you know any that do have a sandwich dial and closed case back or is this a combo that was never offered in the gens?

The 232 is actually something I've been looking at very closely. The only thing is that it's been said it should be a brown dial instead of the black. Otherwise it would be just about perfect. At first the radiomirs didn't appeal to me but they've really been growing on me lately.

Me too, I'm really liking the 47mm Fiddy I just received, and I've always likes the Rad case.
This could very well be my next rep.

The dial is indeed the subject of much debate.
Some examples have been listed as black dialed, while others brown.
Depends on who you believe, and whether the majority are the same, but perceived differently by different sets of eyes.
I choose to listen to the people who are actually holding them, not those who look at a variable such as printed media or a computer screen.

Make sure to get the Fiddy style hands (in blue of course), not the bowtie style that taper at the cannon pinion.

I wouldnt worry about the caseback. Nobody will ask you to take the watch off so they can "inspect it." If you are worried aboutbeing called out just keep it on your wrist IMHO.

That's a valid point but it's nice to have the option of wearing it into an AD and confidently being able to take it off your wrist and try on some gens. 99.9% of people wouldn't know the difference looking at the movement anyways, but I was just trying to get some insight on models that could be modded to be nearly perfect visually without looking at the movement.

Depending on the watch (more the value then whether its a gen or rep), Many times I switch wrists with my current watch then compare the two. Every once in a while though you get the sales person that wants to see it. If your that worried find a blank case back and have it engraved something like:

BRUNO.
With Love.
XYZ (Or whatever your wifes initials are)

And if they ask tell them your wife had it commisioned for you (crazy people with gens do that all the time, hell look at the guy that had a clear case back put on his daytona because he likes the movement.)
