Safari on Jacobs Horn

I always liked the look of the Safari Hornback from Jacob. I was in contact with Jacob for a long time to build one for my 2014 J12 Safari but there are some. problems at the moment to make these straps for J12. For a perfect fitting Jacob needs to create a new
mold which wil be a 6 K investment.
Anyhow, I wanted that strap so I decieded to build a project Safari, a mix between J12 and noob parts. The noob case I got from a nice forum member, the noob crystal came from the Professor, the Dial is from J12 with datefond from noob, the Tachy is from noob also. Fitting a J12 Tachyring into the noob case is not possible, it will not fit but you can press it in but the stem attached to the crown will brake sooner or later. It is also not possible to modd the Tachyring. If you want to modd it you need to cut away from the upper part and then you loose the printing.

Normally I like more black watches but the Jacob Horn on this Safari makes up for it and I think it is 80% of the look and feel.

I asked Jacob to cut the strap so that it would fit the 20 mm buckle from the 2014 releases. This makes it very comfy to wear the watch.

Perfect with the 20mm buckle. Will order the strap in this size too for my Safari.

6k for a new insert mold. Ugh.
Lack of interchangeability even on tachy. Double ugh.
Beautiful build though, topped off by a wonderful Jacob Safari.
In some respects the top-heavy ROO reps need at least 20mm on the end of the stap--otherwise they wobble too much.
Congratulations.

Chris, didn't you mention that one could use a J12 case and Noob clips and use a Jacob strap?

Add another $500 or so to that 6K for a J12 AP rep to use for engineering the straps. Ugh. I might have to borrow a lug, cap, and bar to see if my inserts are compatible w/ J12's.

Anyhow, that looks beautiful. The craftsmanship and overall finish of the strap looks great. Kudo's to all, enjoy.

The AP strap making is not a cheap venture if you want to offe high quality and fit.

I would add also the costs of several watches that i keep just to be sure of the fit. With reps you can never develop the inserts based on one watch. I always try them on at least 2 cases(same style and factory).

I've never made a strap in my life, so i'm sorry if this is a stupid question:

Is the mold for the the inserts or is it required to shape the straps as well? if you had the existing Inserts from a J12 strap, could you make a new hornback strap that fits?
