Rule #9 (excerpt): Do not PM or Tag a member of staff to approve your sale. Or, how can I get a fast approval in compliance to the rules.

As you can imagine, staff members receive a considerable amount of PM's. Who has the best sub? Who is a reputable dealer for brand X? Where is the M2M section? Where can I offload my watches? How can I support RWI? Who has the best sub? How do I get certified? Are you selling your Belkin? How do I become a TD? How do I send PM's? Do you have the best sub? Why is the sky blue? Why is the rain wet? Why is my wife cheating on me? Etc., etc., etc....

Among those, the question: can you green my sale? Or its slightly irritating version: why isn't my sale green yet?

First, as you can see from the title, it's against the sales rules to tag or pm a moderator to get approval on your sale. I'd add, if it's too implicit to understand, this rule extends to pricedrop and sold.

There's reasons for it, the most pedestrian one is, we're not employees, we do this on our own free time, we're not at your disposal. It's a matter of respect, in a way. But there's plenty others too, which I won't go into here, I'm more interested in analysing another factor of this, the most interesting for you, too.

How do sales get approved? Why are some quicker than others? How can I make sure my sale gets approved fast next time?

I already mentioned it, we're not employees, we do this on our own free time. Sometimes this means before going to work, or between a meeting and the next, or in a free 5 minutes between chores. Life, right? Often this means we have time constraints to go through a sale and make sure everything is ok. The secret to a fast approval is strictly complying to the sales rules. Simple as that. If everything is as it should, all the information is there, it's an easy green. If not, it means we have to dedicate more time to a thread, and considering the abovementioned time constraints this may not be always possible, hence some sales get a delayed approval.

Examples.
The sales form. It must be filled in all its parts. Omitting a field makes us wonder why? Classic examples are "is this an HVS: yes." And a missing "who approved HVS" field. Usually means there's no HVS application. Or "piece origin" missing, makes us reasonably assume there's something to hide.

No description of the watch and its condition. Missing description or introduction telling us what, why, how etc. means we only have pics to assess. Additionally, information on the age of the watch are always useful (and in my opinion should be mandatory) to give a judgement on wear and tear. When was it purchased? How many previous owners? Is the age such that you'd have to consider a service? (I remember more than one sale where watches are stated as "serviced", and when asked, I found out that, in the best of cases, the service was 2-3 years old, but the guy was charging for it). Personally, I'll rather skip to the next sale which gives me all info and push this at the back of the queue. Why? Because I've nothing to compare the pics to. A good description of the watch, where it comes from, how much it's been used, what's the condition, make it much easier to frame the sale and assess the watch.

Previous M2M Link. Used often as piece origin, less often the link is provided. It it was provided, it would be an easy and fast green. Where it's not provided, I have to check much more thoroughly and look for the previous thread to make sure there's no profiteering or big differences. That's a really easy one guys, please link it. If you can't find the link, then do tell so in your ad and mention the name of the member you bought it from.

Pics. Sometimes this one really makes me angry. There's chaps selling Superfrankens for 1000, 2000, 3000$ and up and include just 3 or 4 pics. That's a slap in the face to the staff and buyers. That's sheer lazy. Take as much pics as possible from all angles and in proper lighting, you can upload them in bulk with clickpix, what is the problem. Also consider, pics taken in shade, or with lighting coming from odd angles leaving parts of the watch in shade will immediately let alarm bells ring: is there something to hide? Disclose everything, you only gain by doing that: a fast approval, a buyer who knows exactly what he gets, no after sales issues.

Proofs of costs. Some watches have been worked on, components swapped etc. Most of the times this is about HVS, but not exclusively. Please provide all proof of additional costs in advance together with your HVS application. It will make your approval faster, especially if the mod you applied for isn't available when you post your sale.

Breakdowns. For modded watches (as above) always include a cost breakdown. No cost breakdown means more checking for staff.

So as you see from this few examples (there could be more), it's all about compliance to the sales rules and common sense. Be thorough and you will have less problems. It's also a sign of respect, why is staff supposed to be more thorough than you for your business? At the end of the day I hope you got the drive. Little inconsistencies of a sales ad will cause it to go at the end of the queue in favour of thorough, fully compliant sales, because they require less time for approval and more often than not sales moderator are on a more important schedule that's called life.

Last, the practical reason why you don't need to tag a staff member for your approval, we use the filter function. We'll filter for pending and go through sales. If your sales isn't approved while a later one is, from the above you'll have an idea why. Same goes for pricedrop and sold. Just post the words in your thread, we'll find them.
