what's the deal with the little metal-like prong that sticks out from the rep rubber straps when the rep case doens't have the hole to receive it? anyone know?

You can cut the metal but to tell you the truth, the rep rubber strap for 42.5mm PO (20mm lug size) is just CRAP. It's too soft, attracts lots of dust and will not fit 100% well to the case after you cut the metal part.

hi, i install a gen rubber strap, works perfect
It wasn't loose on the case? I tried hooking up a 9800085 (Bond) rubber strap and it's a bit loose.

Well I bought a bricked 42MM PO and a genuine strap. The gen strap does fit but on mine you need to sway the spring bars toward the case. It's a bit tricky but it does fit very well. The 9800085 Bond rubber strap will not fit, the hole spacing is different. Now I just have to fix the movement and replace the bezel with a gen and I am very happy. I love these posts. :D
